Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the 21st anime film of the franchise, faced a setback before its release, but it looks like the movie is back on track again. It was initially scheduled for release in Japan in April, but the Toei hack delayed its debut.
The film has since announced its new premiere date, June 11. International fans were worried about when the movie would debut globally, but Crunchyroll is here to save the day.
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment have recently announced that they will screen the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie globally in summer 2022. The movie will be available in theaters worldwide with English-subtitles as well as with a dub.
As a promise of the upcoming movie, Crunchyroll has just released an English subtitled trailer. (Finally, you don’t have to pretend to know Japanese in an attempt to interpret what is happening in the video.)
The teaser shows the return of Red Ribbon Army, who Goku had already defeated in the past. Somehow they have digged their way up from the grave again and pose a greater threat armed with two dangerous androids.
Another notable thing is the increased screentime of Gohan, even little Pan is present in some of the action scenes. I’m really excited for the next generation to take over.
Crunchyroll has stated that Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroes will be available “all continents, including North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia (excluding Japan)”.
It is also the first movie that Crunchyroll is releasing in theaters for a global audience.
Dragon Ball Super’s upcoming film is going to be one of the big league releases this year, and I am sure that under Akira Toriyama’s watchful eyes, it is guaranteed to be a hit.
