On November 7, Crunchyroll announced that it would host an “Anime Y2K” party in New York City on November 19. The event is set to take place at Terminal 5 in NYC, in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood.
The event is meant to revisit the ‘90s anime music and inspire nostalgia for the anime scene at the time. Several notable DJs and musicians from Japan and worldwide will be performing at the event, including D-YAMA, DJ WILDPARTY, TEDDYLOID, and JVNA.
The event has been described as a “90s nostalgia-filled music experience”. It promises that attendees will be transported into a slice of Akihabara, Tokyo Nightclub scene, circa the 1990s with live music, supercharged trailers of current anime series, photo ops, and games.
Tickets for the event are now available online to all those who want to attend, and the event will begin at 7 pm EST. Crunchyroll hasn’t yet announced if the event will be streamed and available to a virtual audience.
The music event coincides with the Anime NYC Convention, which is set to take place from November 18-20 at New York City’s Javits Centre which will include anime premieres, panels with special guests, autograph sessions, and more.
