Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World Director’s Cut recently put out its 13th episode marking an end to the remake season. The episode included a major cliffhanger about Rem that has been known by the manga readers for a long, long time. The entire season is available on Crunchyroll for streaming.
Continuing the stream of Re:Zero content, Crunchyroll announced on Monday that an OVA – The Frozen Bond, and an anime – Shadowverse, will be streamed in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The OVA, Re:Zero Hyōketsu no Kizuna, will be streamed with English subs from 1st May. The OVA was initially released in Japanese theatres on 8th November. The OVA adapts the meeting between Emilia and Puck from the Re:Zero Kara Hajimeru Zenjitsu-tan: Hyōketsu no Kizuna prequel novel included with the television anime’s first Blu-ray Disc volume in Japan.
Rem, better known as “Best Girl Rem,” has been a favorite fan character since the start of the series. Re:Zero Director’s Cut episode 13 scene shows Subaru and Emilia in a carriage during their travel. This is when Emilia asks the heartbreaking question – Who is Rem?
Rem has been wiped out from the memories of everyone except Subaru…on Subaru’s birthday. Rem was last seen on a carriage on her way to the royal castle alongside many others accompanying the royal trophy.
Mid-trip, they were attacked by two archbishops of the seven deadly sins – Green & Gluttony. They were out to get back the colossal white whale, who turns out to be their pet.
On finding out that the whale is dead, they started a rampage and massacred most of the people present. Even though Rem used demon mode to attack them, she failed and was taken out. Her final wish – “I hope that when Subaru learns I’m gone, it sends ripples through his heart.”
The continuation of these events will be shown once the next season of Re Zero premieres in July. Stay tuned!

Re: Zero − Starting Life in Another World is a Japanese light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka.
The plot is based on Subaru Natsuki, the protagonist who gets sucked into a fantasy world on his way home from the convenience store. He gets attacked by a group of thugs and is beaten to a pulp immediately, but this girl from the fantasy world named Satella saves him.
To return the favor, Subaru helps her find the stolen insignia. They both get murdered by a mysterious force in the end, and Subaru wakes up with his new ability to reverse time upon his death.
