Co-Creator Ted Humphrey reveals that The Lincoln Lawyer could continue until season 4 and beyond. The courtroom drama premiered in 2022 and stars Manuel Garcia-Ruflo as lawyer Mickey Haller.
The show is based on Michael Connelly’s famous book series of the same name and introduces Haller as a half-brother to Connelly’s other iconic character, Harry Bosch.
TV Insider recently talked to Ted Humphrey, where he spoke about his take on the recently released season 2 finale. During their engagement, he also revealed that they have plans for four seasons.
Although season 3 hasn’t been announced, Humphrey’s words reassure us that we will be able to see our favorite lawyer in action for a long time. Here’s what he has to say:
We do have a plan through four seasons so far, and we have plans for more than that if we are so fortunate to be able to continue to do the show. We have plans for more than that, but we particularly have the next two seasons planned out that hopefully we’ll get a chance to do, and we know what books those will be based on.
So far, every season of The Lincoln Lawyer has adapted one whole book of the parent series. Season 1 was based on the second book, The Brass Verdict, while season 2 follows the events of the fifth book, The Fifth Witness. Although Humphrey has kept the source of season 4 under wraps, he did reveal that season 3 will be based on 2013’s The Gods of Guilt.
It is worth noting that Connelly’s series hasn’t finished yet, and he is working on the seventh book. It will be called Resurrection Walk and will release this November.
Therefore, the makers will not run out of content anytime soon, even if they wish to extend the series beyond the stipulated four seasons.
If the show grows in popularity, it can diverge away from the books and can have its own separate narrative. For the time being, it has more than enough material to contend with.
So, what do you think about this decision by the makers? Do write to us in the comments down below. Ciao!
