Prime Video’s animated superhero TV series Invincible is due a season later this year, but we’re still waiting on the release date. While creator Robert Kirkman hasn’t given us an exact date for the shows premiere, he just gave us an update on the production front.
In his interview with Collider, the creator explained that the long gap between seasons 1 & 2 was a result of the pandemic and the fact that the writers’ room was working on seasons 2 & 3 simultaneously.
Kirkman also added that season 2’s production is “going great,” and he is seeing “full animation now,” and they’re at the stage where “music and stuff” are being put into it.” Read his full answer below, along with the funny quip about asking the fans to stop questioning him about the latest season:
It’s going great. I’m seeing full animation now, and we’re getting music and stuff put into it, and it’s coming along really great. And I can’t wait for people to finally see it so that they stop asking me about it.

Since the show’s premiere in 2021, seasons 2 and 3 were confirmed in April of that year, but other updates have been slow to follow. This month, we got a new update where InvincibleHQ’s Twitter showed Steven Yeun, who voices Mark Grayson, coming in to record his lines for the upcoming seasons.
Kirkman also added in this new update that the waiting period between seasons 2 & 3 will be much shorter than the two-year gap between the first and second seasons.
Season 2 will possibly explore Mark stepping out of his father’s shadow and becoming a hero of his own standing – just in time, too, since his family and Chicago lays in ruins with an ominous feeling that Nolan will return with the Viltrumite invasion.
Till Invincible returns and we get more than a teaser trailer, I’ll keep you updated on all things Invincible – so stay tuned to Cine Dope!
