The cult classic is something we cannot get enough of. The well-fabricated story, retro space aesthetics, and 90s animation are just too immaculate. Netflix announcing a live-action made some of us excited and some doubtful of the upcoming show.

But, being fans of the series, all of us are here to witness how it goes.

The Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event previewed the opening credits for the live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop premiering on November 19, 2021.

The opening credit scene is inspired by the original with Yoko Kanno’s song, ‘Tank!’, from the anime mixed with elements of both live-action and animation.

Other than Spike, Jet, and Faye, we can see many important characters in the credits that will be in the live-action. Though, there are still no hints of the genius hacker Ed being in it yet. 🙁

Towards the end of the video, we see the fan-favorite character Ein the corgi and the title displayed in the original anime’s style.

Moreover, the event exclusively unveiled some promotional images for the upcoming series to get us more hyped up.

The first set is a picture of the world’s cutest corgi Ein melting our hearts by simply existing. The second one is a recreation of the iconic scene from the anime where Vicious points a sword at Spike while the latter points a gun at the former.

This shot is from when Spike confronts Vicious at the Red Dragon Syndicate’s headquarters and eventually kills him.

The second set of pictures is some of the characters from the live-action like Julia, Vicious, Ana, and Gren. These are some of the key characters of the show that are significant to the storyline.

Also, I love all of this new info and visuals that have come out, and I appreciate Netflix for releasing them, but please give us Ed too!

Moreover, Netflix is famous for its originals, especially live-action adaptations of anime. Many people treasure this timeless anime, so if Netflix messes it up, I can only pray for them to be forgiven by the anime community.

It was hinted that the live-action wouldn’t be following the same story of the anime and will make some changes. I am curious to see what they come up with. Will it make the series better? Or will it be an epic fail?

Only time will tell. Till then, why not binge the anime again?

About Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese animated science-fiction television series animated by Sunrise. The series premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo from April 3 until June 26, 1998, broadcasting only twelve episodes and a special due to its controversial adult-themed content.

Set in the year 2071, roughly 50 years following a calamity (that’s nearly 2020!) that makes Earth uninhabitable, the series follows 5 of a crew of bounty hunters.

With humans scattered across Earth’s immediate cosmos, Inter Solar System Police hires the likes of this crew to help hunt criminals. For the right price, these rag tags will even save the world if need be.
