ARISE!! Gang up all the nerdy Neanderthals, as it is finally time to witness the overpowered Jin-Woo, in Japanese. Yes, you read it right!
The cries of the fandom have not gone unheard, as the massively popular Korean Web Novel, Solo Leveling, is finally stepping into the Japanese market with its light novel adaptation.
The cover for the Japanese adaptation of the first volume of Solo Leveling Light Novel has been released online, and it is receiving mixed reviews from fans.
The light novel has also decided to go by the name, Only I Level Up, which is the same as the English web novel. The cover image gives us a first glance at the protagonist of the series, Hunter Sung Jin-Woo.
Fans’ reaction to the cover photo has been bittersweet, as some are excited with the series moving one step closer towards receiving an anime adaption. At the same time, some declare it as a rip off of the original series.
Even though I agree that the artwork, when compared to its ongoing webtoon counterpart, looks far more inferior and they’ve somehow managed to make Jin-Woo a hybrid of Anos Voldigoad (Misfit of Demon King Academy) and Kirito (Sword Art Online), I guess, this a trade-off we’re going to have to deal with if this gets adapted into Japanese Media.
Of course, these subtle (well, not so subtle anymore) influences of Japan will be evident in the story, too, as they might probably change the characters’ names and their home country.
We can also expect them to eradicate the anti-Japanese stuff from the story and tweak the plot a little bit.
The Solo Leveling fandom also recently received another treat, as Yen Press released the official English print of the web novel on January 19, 2021.
The web novel is also set to make its English Comic debut, as Yen Press will release the print of the same on February 23, 2021.
With all these exciting pieces of news flying around, the fandom has been in an absolute ruckus. Guys literally only want one thing and it’s not even that disgusting – Imagine if MAPPA or BONES announces a Solo Levelling anime adaptation? (Aight! Imma head out!)
