Episode 8 of “Couple of Cuckoos” finally has Sachi join in, or should I say, move in with our protagonists. In a clear power move from Sachi, she announces her presence in the race by not subtly hinting that she wants more of Nagi’s time but by packing in her stuff and outright moving in with Erika and Nagi.
Getting to know why Sachi moved in, along with everything that had been going around Nagi has mellowed him down. He seems to have watered down his painful obliviousness and (probably) wised up to Erika’s feelings.
Nagi says that he is not ready yet to take on what Erika might just have to offer him in terms of emotional weight, and thus he requests her to wait. Only the Lord knows when he might be ready for Erika and her heart since Sachi seems to be waiting, and from what it looks like, waiting isn’t one of her strong suits.
Episode 9 Speculations
Sachi was horrified when Erika barged in and took Nagi away from her little world. She simply wanted to spend more time with her brother. That is what prompted her to make that outrageous move to Nagi and Erika’s place.
Sachi’s entry into this supposed race itself is not surprising since people who have been following the show had been expecting it to happen sooner than later. However, her method of blowing the doors right off their hinges made for quite an entertaining watch.
Everything looks to be fine and dandy for the time being, but what disruptions she may bring to the table are yet to be seen.

Episode 8 Recap
Erika’s offhanded confession has been bugging Nagi for quite a while since he came back from the school trip. Although, he has not yet found the courage nor found the time to ask her about it.
While Nagi is lost in his confusion, a wild Sachi appears at his doorstep with the intent to meet Erika, who is out shopping. Disappointed, Sachi settles for Nagi, and the two of them talk about what had been bugging him.
That helps Nagi realize that he needs to stop moping around and ask Erika directly about what she meant.
“A battle”, is what Nagi calls it and begins preparing tonkatsu to celebrate it since, according to him, Tonkatsu is battle food.
That very conversation and Nagi’s proclamation of battle set off something primal in Sachi. She says nothing and leaves Nagi and Erika’s place, only to come back with all her necessary stuff from home, now with the intent to move in with them.
Erika seems to have no problem with Sachi moving in, but Nagi and Sachi’s parents definitely do. However, with Erika on her side, she easily manipulates Nagi into letting her stay.
The two sisters walk up to Erika’s room, where Sachi reveals that she barged in because she was afraid that Erika would take her brother away from her, she only wanted to spend more time with him.
Unbeknownst to Erika and Sachi, Nagi is privy to that conversation as well. It doesn’t take him too long to switch to Sachi’s side and convince Sachi’s parents to let her stay there.
Now that Sachi would be staying with Erika and Nagi, they need to go shopping for cutlery and a futon to accommodate her.
Towards the end of the shopping trip, Nagi finds himself confused and alone in a shop with nothing but orders from Erika on what to get. Buying what Erika had asked him to and getting out, he is met with a crowd of people mumbling something about two girls.
Assuming the worst, Nagi runs in, but all he sees are Erika and Sachi having something casually at a café. The crowd had formed due to Erika’s popularity.
Upon reaching home, Nagi gets to know that those mystery items were pieces for a custom photo board, one that would immediately be put to use by getting a quick picture together with Nagi, Sachi, and Erika.
All of Nagi’s recent misadventures with Hiro, Erika, and Sachi have begun to settle in, allowing him to think more rationally. His curiosity to know who it was that Erika was talking about at the beach was eating him up, but upon further thought, he felt that he wasn’t ready for that answer.
He conveys his exact thoughts to Erika, who bursts out laughing and asks him to let her know whenever he would be ready

A Couple of Cuckoos or Cuckoo’s Fiance is a manga by Miki Yoshiwara. It was launched in January 2020 in the Weekly Shounen Magazine.
Nagi and Erika were switched at birth and never knew their real parents. On the day that Nagi was supposed to meet his natural parents, he encounters Erika and is roped into helping her out of an arranged marriage.
Both of them pretend to be girlfriend and boyfriend only to realize later that they are actually fated to marry each other.
