Ever since Forza Horizon cast the cornerstone in open-world racing, Playground Games have maintained the record of releasing a new horizon title every two years. When we didn’t get to see Forza Horizon 5 last year, it was evident that the developers had something big in store for us.
It turns out ‘something big’ is kind of an understatement as Forza Horizon 5, set in the stunning backdrop of Mexico, will be the biggest Horizon title yet. From breathtaking mountain ranges to ever stretching plains to race upon with a large fleet of cars is just going to be the tip of the iceberg in FH5. With its release set in November 2021, you must be wondering if it would release on your current console.
Forza Horizon 5 will be releasing on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/ S, Xbox Game Pass, and PC on November 9, 2021.
This is good news, especially for Xbox One owners, as they will not be left in the dust in favor of the new generation of Xbox consoles, but what kind of performance can you expect from Forza Horizon 5?
1. Forza Horizon 5 Performance on Consoles
Forza Horizon 5 will run at 4K/30fps on Xbox Series X, 1080p/30fps on Xbox Series S and Xbox One. There is also a performance mode that delivers 4K/60fps on Xbox Series X and 1080p/60fps on Xbox Series S with some graphical features scaled back.
Creative Director Mike Brown answered in a tweet about the capabilities of the performance mode designed to deliver higher FPS on Xbox Series X/ S. That is quite handy for players who want smoother gameplay at the cost of some graphical details.
It will be interesting to see how Microsoft has achieved the level of details synonymous with the Forza series, along with higher frame rates on consoles. Apparently, they are utilizing dynamic resolution scaling and variable draw distance systems. Can the same be enjoyed by Playstation players in the near future?
2. Is Forza Horizon 5 Playstation Release Possible?
Microsoft has no plans to release Forza Horizon 5 to Playstation as of now. It might be possible that they make a change with future Forza titles, but that does not seem to be their plan in 2021.
We are living through history as 60FPS becomes the norm on consoles, and it is good to have games that are already pushing that limit. Playground games have also done a terrific job to deliver such performance with this amount of detail in FH5.
3. About Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5 is the latest installment in the Forza series of racing simulator games. It is the fifth Forza Horizon title and the twelfth main installment in the Forza series. The game has been developed by Playground Games and published by Microsoft for the Xbox consoles and PC.
Forza Horizon 5 is set in a fictional representation of Mexico. Players will race through various kinds of biomes in the game, and will have access to a number of professional racing cars. Several game modes allow players to play online against others, and “The Eliminator” battle royale mode has also made a return from Forza Horizon 4.
