Only a few months remain for the release of FromSoftware’s next epic title, Elden Ring, and the marketing for the game is currently on full throttle. On Thursday, Bandai Namco released some new gameplay footage which gave fans a fresh look at the world and some gameplay mechanics. The developer has gone even further now, revealing the game specs so players can decide which platform would be the best option for them.
The gameplay showcase introduced us to some new core gameplay mechanics we will use in Elden Ring. One of the major ones is the addition of a world map that can be customized through markers. Others included traversal options, showing off your mounted traveling and combat, as well as combat and multiplayer systems. The showcase has stoked the embers for Elden Ring, and fans are now waiting with bated breath for its release. But, what platform would be the best to play on?
Bandai Namco Entertainment has released the spec sheet for Elden Ring’s performance and compatibility on all the available platforms. On PC, Elden Ring will support a max resolution of up to 3840x2160p and a framerate of up to 60 FPS, along with HDR and ray tracing support. The latter will be supported after a post-launch patch. These are pretty standard specs amongst AAA titles these days, and none will stand out to anyone who is used to playing on high-end gaming PCs.
The specs on the PlayStation are a bit more variable, as the game is releasing across PS4, PS4 Pro, and the PS5 simultaneously. On the base PS4, the max resolution will be 1920x1080p, the PS4 Pro will reach a checkerboard resolution of up to 3200x1800p, and the PS5 will reach 3842x2160p. The PS5 is the only system that will feature the frame-rate centric Performance mode, pushing Elden Ring to a frame rate of 60FPS.
The maximum resolution varies greatly when it comes to Xbox consoles. The Xbox One will reach 1600x900p resolution, and the Xbox Series X will reach 3840x2160p. Like with PlayStation, only the next-gen consoles for Xbox, the Series S, and Series X will be able to reach 60FPS with performance mode activated. But, Elden Ring’s specs on Xbox allow for complete, back-and-forth “cross-generation compatibility.”
Players will have to ensure that they have compatible TVs or displays to ensure the best possible result. But, given what we got to witness recently, Elden Ring is shaping up to be a beautiful game regardless of the platform.
