After hours of immersive gameplay, you finally arrive at The Garden during Avowed’s “Heart of the Living Lands” quest. To your surprise, The Garden has its map filled with numerous areas to explore and various intriguing materials and items.
One of the first challenges you’ll encounter is a gold-glowing sarcophagus, which holds one of the best items in the game. However, gaining access to it requires the Sarcophagus Key to unlock it.
1. How to get the Scarphagous Key in Avowed?
Players can get the Sarcophagus Key from a glowing purple Skeleton on a ledge overlooking the Broken Aqueduct of the Garden. The skeleton can be found on the way to the Strangled Adra in the Garden.
After you find the sarcophagus, follow the markers on your map for the main quest. Move forward until you enter a room with a round pond and spider webs on the walls.
In this room, you will see a small door near the pond. Go through the door and dive into the water below. Swim through the underwater tunnel.
When you reach a fork, take the left path until you find a small ledge. This ledge overlooks the Eye of Rymgrand and another ledge blocked by large branches. Use Margan’s Fury or Kai’s Firestarter to burn the branches blocking the other ledge.
Next, use an Ice Spell or an Eye of Rymgrand to create an ice platform on the water’s surface.
Climb to the other ledge and follow the path until you reach a ledge that looks down on the Broken Aqueduct. This ledge will lead you to the Strangled Adra and a glowing purple skeleton that has the Sarcophagus Key.
2. How to use the Scarphagous Key?
Players can use the Sarcophagus Key to open the coffin and loot the Spiritmender light armor.
Take the Sarcophagus Key you found and jump down the ledge. Go through the door directly in front of you. You visited this door earlier for the main quest. Go down the grand staircase to a flooded room and look for the sarcophagus in a small room. Use the key to open the sarcophagus.
You will receive a unique Light Armor called the Spiritmender when you open the sarcophagus. When you wear this armor, it will give you these benefits:
- Essence Draining: 2% of your Attack Damage is restored as Essence
- Luminous Adra Battery: +100 Maximum Essence.
