6. Why do filler arcs exist?
Filler episodes are born out of necessity. Original content is introduced to anime when the manga is on the verge of running out of chapters. They provide enough time for the manga to catch on before returning to the actual plot.
Thus, canon episodes mean the content that is adapted directly from the manga with no original additions. Fillers can sometimes add more depth to the show as they explore some side quests that might later become endearing to the audience.
Naruto and Naruto Shippuden have fillers for the same reason as the anime episodes caught up to the manga before new chapters could be released. To keep the weekly anime airing, original content had to be adapted.
7. Conclusion
Now you have an extensive list of fillers and mixed canon episodes of both Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. You can save the article and open it to follow up before you want to attempt another arc of the anime.
Besides the fillers and mixed canon, Naruto and Naruto Shippuden have one anime canon episode each. You can skip episode 28 of Naruto Shippuden, but episode 99 of Naruto is watchable.
