It’s no surprise that Halo Infinite stands as one of the most anticipated titles for fans of Xbox as well as PC. But, the fact remains that the game has been delayed to an unknown date in 2021.
Because of this, and a general lack of information regarding the game has led to a lot of rumors being circulated around the internet, all of which were recently shot into the ground by 343 Industries.
The rumors include how the game may be dropping its support for the Xbox One and that it may be coming out all the way in 2022.
Given how the player-unrest regarding Halo kept expanding with each passing day, and the rumors growing at a similarly fast rate, Brian Jarrard, the Community Director at 343 had to denounce all the rumors publicly on Twitter. He tweeted:
However, the reason behind Halo Infinite’s delay is still unclear. Microsoft should be well aware that Halo has always been one of the biggest selling points for the Xbox.
Sources suggest that it may have been due to the mixed reception towards the game’s graphical prowess and overall bugginess.
Others say that it is because of Microsoft’s active involvement in the game’s development, that has slowed down the process considerably.
But the question remains – with Xbox Series consoles right around the corner, why take a risk as huge as not making the game a launch title?
Of course, it’s not to say that Microsoft is looking to repeat the same mistakes it made with the Xbox One.
They are, in fact, fully prepared to face the next generation of gaming head-on.
That becomes pretty clear with Microsoft’s recent acquisition of ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda, and the collaboration between EA Play and Xbox Game Pass.
Despite how PS5’s launch lineup has some of the strongest titles it could have such as Demon’s Souls, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and more, it’s fair to say that Microsoft is still giving them a run for their money.
Regardless, the answer to which console will dominate the next generation is still yet to be seen, but the battle is certainly getting spicier by the minute!
