Cold Call, one of the highest-rated thriller series from the UK in 2019, is making its way across the pond. The gripping drama about a cold call scam threatening to disintegrate a woman’s life is coming to AMC’s streaming service Sundance Now in November. Cold Call first premiered on UK’s Channel Five as an original and was received positively by critics and the viewers.
The four-part series is set in Manchester and follows June Clarke, a single mother and soon to be a grandmother. After the death of her elderly mother, she is targeted by scam callers. When she is robbed of all her money and left homeless, she decides to take matters into her own hands and get her money back.
Sally Lindsay, famous for her role in Coronation Street, stars as the protagonist of Cold Call. Amongst the cast, her performance has been especially praised by the critics. It is down to earth yet surprisingly chilling and conveys the realistic tone of the show.
Cold Call also stars Daniel Ryan (of Mount Pleasant) as Des, another victim of a call scam like June, Paul Higgins (of Line of Duty) who plays Kirk, a suspected perpetrator of the crime, Taj Atwal (of Stella) and Daniel Skinner.
Cold Call premieres on Sundance Now on November 19th, 2020.
