1. Release Date
Season 3 of Code Geass is yet to be confirmed. However, a new anime, Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, has been announced. The new anime will most likely be a movie. No information has been released regarding the new installment yet.
Season 3 will most likely release in the Fall of 2022 or Winter of 2023.
The movies of Code Geass follow an alternative timeline as compared to the T.V. series. Z of the Recapture will continue the story after the last movie, Fukkatsu No Lelouch, so a third season is unlikely, at least until 2022.
2. What to Expect From Season 3
In Season 2, one year had passed since the Black Rebellion. Zero went missing after the uprising failed, and Area 11 becomes too powerless against the Empire.
Lelouch lost all the memories of his life as Zero and lives peacefully as an Ashford Academy student. C.C., his ex-partner in crime, takes it upon herself to remind Lelouch of his heroic past, hoping that Zero would return again and to resume the rebellion that he started.
Season 3 would continue the story after the events of Season 2.
The movie franchise, however, is an alternate reality to the series. In the last movie, C.C.’s mission is to resurrect Zero, the greatest revolutionary in history, to save the world from peril.
Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, being the sequel to the movie, will take on after the events of Fukkatsu No Lelouch.
