AEW star CM Punk is returning to his role of heel wrestler Ricky Rabies in the upcoming season of Heels.
Punk last appeared on AEW Revolution on March 6, where he defeated his rival MJF. However, the wrestler has been absent ever since then.
The Wrestling Observer linked Punk’s absence from this week’s AEW Dynamite and Rampage to the Starz series, which began filming for Season 2 earlier this month in Atlanta, Georgia.
Punk’s character appeared in two episodes in Season 1. However, he might not be the only wrestling star appearing this season. WWE Legend Batista reportedly visited the set this week, yet news of his cameo in the series remains a mystery.
As wrestlers Mick Foley and Doc Gallows previously made special appearances in Season 1, more such cameos can surely be expected from Season 2.
The series follows the Duffy Wrestling League (DWL) in small-town Georgia, focusing on the two brothers handling the family business—Stephen Amell as Jack Spade, the heel, and Alexander Ludwig as Ace Spade, the babyface.
Punk, credited by his real name, Phil Brooks, played the veteran grappler who showed up at DWL with his valet Vicky Rabies.
Season 1 finished airing in October 2021 and consisted of eight episodes. However, Heels Season 2 doesn’t have an episode count or premiere date yet.
