Citrus Season 2: Release Info, Rumors, Updates

It’s been almost three years since Citrus season 1 came to a halt. Ever since fans have been eagerly waiting for another season of the yuri anime.

The audience gave a mixed response to the series since it’s one of those shows which you either hate or love; there’s no in-between. However, it is worth checking out since it covers a taboo relationship!

Citrus narrates Yuzu Aihara’s tale, a fashionable extrovert, and her journey through a new high school experience. After her mother remarries, Yuzu is forced to transfer schools, which isn’t a problem for her initially. However, the strict rules of the new all-girls school stop her from being her usual fashionable self.

What’s more is that the student council president, Mei, is her step-sister! Yuzu tries (and fails) to befriend Mei and starts teasing her. Before Yuzu could proceed, Mei pushes her to the ground and kisses her.

Stunned and speechless, Yuzu beings to question her step-sister’s motives as well as experiences a new flash of emotions flowing through her.

If you’re into yuri or lesbian romances, Citrus might excite your inner beast!

1. Release Date

Season 2 of Citrus is yet to receive an official announcement regarding its release. We can expect it to release by summer 2022 but no later than that.

It has already been three years since season 1 came out in 2018, and usually, the creators do not take long breaks between seasons.

Moreover, Citrus received a mixed response from the audience, with many negative reviews. Studio Passione, the studio in question, is also known for releasing one-season anime, and so, this further adds to the possibility of the anime not getting another season.

However, there are lots of fans out there who still wait for season 2. As long as there are enough people who support the anime, there is always a chance to get renewed.

2. What To Expect From Season 2

Season 1 covered 4 volumes from the original manga of Citrus. There are 10 volumes in total, giving the anime producers a lot of material to work with. Season 2 would continue the story from the 5th volume onwards.

Season 1 was filled with intense tensions, love triangles, confused feelings, and distractions. By the end of the season, Mei finally confessed to Yuzu about her true feelings.

Unfortunately, Yuzu was unable to give her a proper response and hence created an awkward atmosphere. Season 2 could explore their relationship further, with Yuzu coming to terms with her own feelings.

3. Where To Watch Citrus

4. About Citrus

Citrus is a yuri anime produced by Studio Passione and licensed by Funimation. It was adapted from the manga of the same name.

The story follows Yuzu Airhara after her mother gets remarried and she gets transferred to a new all-girls school. To her dismay, the school is super strict with equally serious students.

Yuzu, on the other hand, is extremely fashionable and outgoing. On an unfortunate occasion, she stumbles upon Mei, the school’s student council president, who is stoic and imposing. She caresses Yuzu in order to confiscate her cell.

Much to Yuzu’s surprise, Mei actually turned out to her step-sister. She tries to befriend Mei but ends up getting pushed to the floor and getting kissed by Mei.

Unable to process what had just happened, Yuzu starts an entirely new life, exploring many sides of her sexuality as well as discovering more about Mei.
