Chicago Fire: Taylor Kinney’s High-Profile Romance is the Rage

Kelly Severide, one of the most popular characters on the hit Chicago series, is played by the handsome Taylor Kinney.

As the youngest firefighter in the city, Kinney’s character is the lead in the Chicago Fire saga for one-third of the Chicago series, while being a supporting character in the rest of the overlapping set of soaps.

Apart from his fabulous screen presence on TV, Kinney is recently making the headlines for an older romance, involving a very high-profile celebrity.

Who is Taylor Kinney?

Before we get into the what’s what of Kinney’s love life, let us quickly glance at his professional work.

Fans of another hit TV series, The Vampire Diaries will recognize Kinney from his character on the show as Mason Lockwood. Kinney was also seen in other productions like Zero Zark Thirty as Jared and in The Other Woman as Phil.

The Chicago series is easily Kinney’s claim to fame which has been running since 2012 and was recently renewed by NBC for three more seasons.

On Chicago Fire, Kinney started off as Lieutenant Kelly Severide, the leader of Rescue Squad 3 and a prodigy in the profession. He is talented, brave and the youngest member to make it to the squad level.

Kinney plays one of the top three characters of the Chicago series, along side Captain Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), paramedic Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund).

A serendipitous music video

Over a year before Chicago Fire, Kinney started in a music video along side a superstar. During the shooting of the film, Kinney planted an unwarranted kiss on the superstar and was slapped in response. That is how began the romance of Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga and the song was You and I.

The couple dated for four years from 2011 to 2016 and were ready to get married after Kinney proposed in 2015.

Lady Gaga’s fame and popularity far surpassed that of Kinney’s, despite the success of Chicago. There were rumours of this being an important factor in their relationship while it lasted.

The couple remained engaged for a bit but didn’t follow up with a wedding. They separated in July 2016.

Since then, both of them have met other love interests. Lady Gaga dated and was engaged to agent Christian Carino before separating. The pop star recently announced that she is involved with businessman Michael Polansky. As for Kinney, he has been spotted with a mystery woman, yet to be identified by us.

Their relationship may have started sith a slap, but there is no bad blood between the duo. They remain friends to this day and share a healthy social relationship as well.

Now that I have your attention, let me also tell you about the wonders of NBC show Chicago Fire, one of the three interspersing series based on three important departments of the city of Chicago.

While Chicago Fire is based on the city’s fire department, Chicago PD follows the police and Chicago Med is centred around the city’s bustling medical community.

The characters are common to all three series considering they are based on the same city at a given time, but have different lead characters.

The hit show Chicago Fire was recently renewed for seasons 8, 9, 10 and 11. This proves the faith that NBC has in the Chicago franchise considering the renewal is rare even for NBC.
