Jodie Whittaker will soon bid farewell to the role of The Doctor.
The upcoming thirteenth season of Doctor Who marks her final adventure riding the TARDIS. And to build up the hype for the season as its premiere is just around the corner, two new images were released.
One of the promo images sees Dan in front with The Doctor and Yaz behind him, peaking at something. While the other one shows the trio looking into space with the TARDIS door wide open, their faces showing clear signs of concern and fear.
On Saturday, BBC America announced the season’s new title – Doctor Who: Flux. Season 13 of the sci-fi series is set to premiere on Halloween, i.e., October 31, 2021.
Along with the announcement came a new teaser explaining the title where Whittaker’s Doctor says, “Listen carefully. We don’t have much time. The Flux is coming.” She also teased the return of Sontarans and Weeping Angels with some new entries known as ‘Ravagers.’
Instead of its usual ‘one monster per episode’ kind of narrative, this season will see all six episodes build up to one elaborate tale, following a singular storyline.
An overview of series 13 previously released by BBC America reads:
She’s back. The Thirteenth Doctor is returning for the thirteenth series in what is set to be a six-part Event Serial.
Since their last epic battle in Revolution of the Daleks, the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) have been exploring the universe together, but with the Doctor now questioning everything about her past there, she will undoubtedly be searching for answers.
This adrenaline-fueled, universe-spanning series will also see an addition to the TARDIS with actor and comedian John Bishop joining the cast as Dan Lewis, who will quickly learn there’s more to the Universe than he could ever believe.
Jacob Anderson (“Game of Thrones,” “Broadchurch”) is also set to make his debut on Doctor Who as reoccurring character, Vinder.
Jacob’s new role will see him join forces with the Doctor, Yaz and Dan as the Doctor faces her biggest ever adventure.
Series 13 is set to introduce some terrifying new adversaries and the return of truly iconic old enemies. Expect action, fun, scares, extraordinary new worlds as the Doctor and her friends confront a deadly evil…

Along with Whittaker, the current showrunner Chris Chibnall will also exit the show after a trio of specials. The first special will screen on New Year’s Day, followed by the second in spring and the third in fall of 2022.
Former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies is returning in 2023. However, which actor will be the next Doctor is still unknown.
