Spider-Man: No Way Home was the film every single MCU fan had been waiting for. Christmas has indeed come early because No Way Home is one of the best gifts the MCU has given to all the Spidey fans out there.
Shortly after the third film’s plot and the Sinister Six were revealed, the internet burst with too many speculations. While the elephants in the room, of course, are Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, people were also wondering if Daredevil stars Matt Murdock and the Kingpin would appear in the films.
Well, before I answer this question, here’s a small disclaimer:
This article is riddled with spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home. So if you haven’t watched it yet and don’t want to know the answers to some of the questions, then now’s your chance to close the tab and start doing something else.
Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock makes a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter Parker (Tom Holland) seeks council regarding his legal troubles around Mysterio, and that’s how we see Matt Murdock in the film. This is his only scene in the film, and we don’t see him as Daredevil. Hopefully, we might know more about his character and role in the MCU in future titles and projects.
While Vincent D’Onforio as Kingpin makes an appearance in Hawkeye episode 5, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock appears in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which released just one day after the fifth episode.
However, a day before the film’s release, leaked footage showed Charlie Cox talking to Spider-Man about his case. While some of them were rubbishing it as edited footage, it turns out the scene was indeed a true one.
Furthermore, in a recent interview with Cinema Blend, the MCU Executive Producer Kevin Feige had confirmed explicitly that if and Daredevil appears in the MCU, it will be played by Charlie Cox. He didn’t say when or in which film/series he would make his first appearance. Well, I guess he didn’t need to because now we know.
While the reveal is just blowing my mind, it gives rise to more questions such as, will there be a Daredevil season 4 on Disney+ or will Daredevil have his own film. So far, the MCU hasn’t announced anything.
However, Daniel Richtman, the scoopmaster of the MCU, recently wrote on Patreon that the Hawkeye spin-off series, Echo, will showcase various cast members from the Daredevil Netflix show. Most of the characters are reprising their roles, and while Echo is a series majorly around the same character, it will be a soft reboot for the Daredevil characters.
All this could be rumors, scoops, or just information waiting to be confirmed by the MCU. No matter what it is, I’m quite excited to see MCU portray Daredevil’s dark and grey world and just hope they surpass the high standards Netflix has already set with the show.
