Chainsaw Man is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated action-horror anime that has been announced. The popular Shonen Jump title will finally receive an anime adaptation with the production being handled by Studio MAPPA.
Fans have already witnessed the manga’s gruesome horror and are incredibly excited to experience the story in all its animated glory.
The plot of Chainsaw Man is simple. Set in a world where the Devils are the ultimate threat to humanity, the story follows an orphaned Denji bearing the weight of his dead father’s heavy debt to the Yakuza.
Denji spends his time killing off Devils with the help of his Devil chainsaw dog and selling their body parts to pay off the Yakuza debt!
Things take a turn for the worse when the Yakuza interfere with this daily routine and leave Denji and his dog dead. As a final service to his master, the dog gives away its heart to Denji, making him the Chainsaw Man.
Judging by its manga, the anime is going to be super awesome. It even made an early appearance on My Hero Academia Chapter 259!

Coming from MAPPA, it will likely follow Jujutsu Kaisen’s release schedule. Since JJK was announced in November 2019 with a release date in October 2020.
If a similar routine is followed, we may see the anime by November 2021, as Chainsaw Man was announced in December 2020.
The anime will start adapting the manga from Volume 1 itself.
2. Chainsaw Man Visuals & Trailer
The visual poster gives the first look at the character design for Denji when he finally becomes the “Chainsaw Man.”
is one of the most awaited anime announcements of 2021 and is finally out in the open. The trailer was released in June 2021 as part of the MAPPA Stage 10th Anniversary, and it is the most gorgeous, idyllic yet violent trailer ever.
The trailer starts with glimpses of the most peaceful moments in Denji’s life. From cuddling with Pochita to living with Aki Hayasaka and Power, those were the times that he wished would remain forever.
But soon, everything just takes a turn for the worst with Denji’s transformation. With this fantastic animation, I hope we get to see an adaptation just as thrilling as the manga!
3. Chainsaw Man Main Characters
MAPPA has been tight-lipped about Chainsaw Man even about the cast, but thanks to the manga, we already have an idea of the characters. As one will expect from a show called Chainsaw Man, the characters sound suitably wacky –
I. Denji
The protagonist of the series is a young depressed teenager Denji. After his father’s death, he gets entangled with his father’s debt from a yakuza. Now he has to work as a devil hunter for the yakuza, with a bit of help from the dog-like Chainsaw Devil Pochita!
However, the yakuza betrays Denji and allows a devil to kill him. This is where his life turns extraordinary as Pochita forms a contract with Denji, sacrificing himself to revive his dead friend and give Denji his powers.
II. Makima
Makima is a mysterious woman who works as a Public Safety Devil Hunter. She knows that Denji is in love with her. Knowing this fact, she controls Denji for her ambiguous ends.
III. Aki Hayakawa
Aki Hayakawa is also a Public Safety Devil Hunter. He works with Denji in Makima’s special Division 4 squad. Aki has a contract with the Curse Devil and Future Devil, allowing him to use incredible powers in exchange for his lifespan.
IV. Power
Power is a young woman with pink hair. She also works with Denji and Aki as fellow Public Safety Officers. Power can turn into a blood fiend with red horns.
She is extraordinarily violent and self-motivated at first and doesn’t care for anyone except her cat. But eventually, she opens up to Denji and Aki who become her first friends.
