Chainsaws and Katanas clash in a fight between two insane half-devils in episode 12 of Chainsaw Man titled “Katana vs. Chainsaw.”

As the Ghost Devil passes on a final parting gift from Aki’s old teacher, it meets its end by his hand and brings a conclusion to his revenge. Meanwhile, Power shows off her skills to no audience as she takes on a horde of zombies, and Denji abandons her.

Kishibe’s training has not proved futile as Denji finds new methods, crazier than ever, to take out his opponent gruesomely as the fight between the two Devils goes from rooftops to public transport.

Episode 13 Speculation

Since season 1 of Chainsaw Man is over, episode 13 will not be released next week. The studio has yet to renew the anime for a second season, and there has been no announcement. The anime has topped the charts this season, so it would be implausible for MAPPA to renew it for another run soon.

Episode 13 of Chainsaw Man will not be released as its first season has ended. Instead, it will be released as a part of season 2.

Recap of Episode 12

As Ghost Devil chokes Aki to death, all fades to black. One cigarette, that’s all Himeno asks for him to smoke with her puppy eyes. A younger Aki gives in, teasing her for pressuring a minor to smoke.

She takes it back, promising to hold it for when he becomes an adult and needs something to take the edge off. The Ghost Devil stands in front of a panting Aki on his knees, clenched fist.

She opens her hand to reveal a cigarette, “Easy revenge!” it says, a final parting gift from Himeno for Aki as he goes to avenge her death. Deep breath in, he walks towards his opponent, his own senpai’s devil.

The Ghost Devil doesn’t have eyes and uses fear to see. With Aki walking towards her now, she is utterly blind to him; he can walk straight ahead and stand atop the very same devil who was choking him two minutes ago, fearless, and slice it open.

Sawatari tries to call the Snake once again, only to find Kobeni behind her with a knife to her neck. Aki spares her life and asks Kobeni why she’s still working in this miserable sector of Public Safety. She’s still waiting on her bonus.

Denji and Power are chilling in the elevator as the elevator doors open to a horde of zombies, and Power decides that this is the time to show off her new skills, entrusting her back to Denji.

Denji has had enough of her crap and would rather stay in the elevator, keeping the hand ready on his Pochita trigger. The Katana guy stands at the entrance, sideburns and all. He tries to talk it through with Denji, appealing to any sense of humanity he has left.

Unfortunately for him, there is zero. Chainsaws and Katanas crash through the wall flying straight into rooftops and train tracks. Denji is brought to the train floor as Katana Man creates some distance.

It’s time to stop fooling around as he uses his one-shot ‘teleports behind you’ samurai move multiple times, leaving Denji one arm less on each occasion. He asks for a final apology from armless Denji since he can no longer fight.

However, there is no conscious version of Denji that cannot still fight, as the insane half-devil runs at him, saying he still has his chainsaw head.

Denji quotes Kishibe that a beast should never trust what a hunter says, as the Katana Man splits open in half with Denji’s crazy arm-less self now revealing his chainsaw leg.

Denji announces his new competition to the half-naked Katana Man, now tied to a train. Aki also walks in at perfect timing and is invited to the competition.

Being the rule-abiding sane member of the trio, he explains how meaningless it is and that Himeno wouldn’t want it. He takes out the cigarette again, and 10 seconds is all he needs to declare himself interested.

They take turns kicking Katana Man’s balls; whoever gets the loudest scream out of his wins. As crows fly above, Makima is watching, and so is Himeno from the heavens, probably laughing at Katana Man’s requiem.

Makima reports the acquisition of 1.4kg of Gun Devil’s flesh, and their collective 6.4kg pile of flesh has finally started moving towards the devil itself. Sawatari has also bit the dust as a suspected clause of the contract with the Gun Devil, as the Snake took her out while restrained.

Denji dreams the same dream yet again, a dark alleyway and a door at the end. A young Denji goes to open the door, hearing Pochita’s voice on the other end telling him not to open it under any circumstances, and it ends there, leaving us in suspense.

 A soothing voice asks Denji to choose between a city mouse and a country mouse, and the season comes to a confusing end.

Chainsaw Man is a manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto that was serialized from December 2018-2020 and returned in July 2022 with a second part. The series also received an anime series by MAPPA.

The manga’s plot revolves around Denji, an orphaned boy who has to work as a devil hunter to make a living and pay off his father’s debt.

However, his pet devil, Pochita is killed on a mission. Denji wakes up to realize he and Pochita have become a single being, Chainsaw Man. If he does not want to get killed, he has to join the government and continue hunting demons.
