Asa Mitaka made a friend in chapter 100 of Chainsaw Man titled “How to Walk Shoeless.”
This was a surprisingly peaceful chapter. It’s probably the most peaceful chapter of Chainsaw Man, and this is quite surprising for fans as they were expecting something wild on the occasion of hitting the hundredth chapter mark.
Well, Asa got a friend, and seeing little to no sign of the War Devil was strange. It didn’t interrupt much nor try to control Asa in this chapter.
Once again, there was no sign of Denji in this chapter. The mangaka is really increasing the hype around him with every chapter.
As we wait for Denji, here are the latest updates.
1. Chapter 101 Speculations
Seeing how the story goes on, I think it is still not the best time for Denji to show up. He will probably make his grand entry when the War Devil takes a major step, or maybe his entry will be as simple and subtle as any other side character.
For now, it looks like Fujimoto will only focus on Asa Mitaka and her character development. She got much of it in chapter 100, and more growth is coming.
He also might focus on fleshing out the other two characters and their relationship with Asa. The War Devil will play a major role in everything that is to come, and for now, I won’t be wrong if I start calling it “The War Devil.”

Asa Mitaka, Hirofumi Yoshida, and the glasses-wearing girl walk down the school lanes together, discussing the possibility that some devil may be residing in one of the unused classes in the big school.
The glass-wearing girl introduces herself to the other two. Her name is Yuko, and she likes Chainsaw Man a lot. Yoshida introduces himself next, followed by Asa. She is upset because of getting paired with Yoshida and feels awkward.
Asa sees some girls from her class walking past her. She is afraid to look them in the eyes. The three girls ignore her at first, but after going past her, they comment on how shameless Asa is to show her face and even make a boyfriend after what she did (they assume Yoshida to be her boyfriend). They poke fun at her.
Asa gets nervous and starts feeling anxious. She tries to excuse her way out of school by saying she has some important work to do. She separates herself from the two. She is still traumatized by what had happened.
Yuko follows her and sees raw meat on Asa’s shoes. She feels bad for her, but Asa tells her she is fine. She starts walking shoeless. The War Devil tells her to wear shoes as their feet are hurting and asks if it should take care of the bullies.
Asa tells the War Devil that she is fine. Yuko shows up behind her telling her that she is not fine. Yuko offers one of her shoes to Asa. She tells her that if Mitaka wants to give her shoes back, she can do that, but Yuko starts running away instead.
Mitaka wears that one shoe and starts running behind Yuko. After a long run, they reach Yuko’s house. Yuko offers Asa the other shoe and tells her to keep it as she has extra shoes.
Asa refuses to take them at first. Seeing this, Yuko tells her to sell the shoes or throw them away later. Asa walks away wearing those shoes. The War Devil asks her whether they should sell the shoes, to which she completely refuses.
6. About Chainsaw Man
Chainsaw Man is a manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto that was serialized from December 2018-2020 and returned in July 2022 with a second part. The series also received an anime series by MAPPA.
The manga’s plot revolves around Denji, an orphaned boy who has to work as a devil hunter to make a living and pay off his father’s debt.
However, his pet devil, Pochita is killed on a mission. Denji wakes up to realize he and Pochita have become a single being, Chainsaw Man. If he does not want to get killed, he has to join the government and continue hunting demons.
