Chadwick Boseman graduated from Howard University in 2000, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in directing. A year after his passing, the University has renamed their Fine Arts college honoring him.
It was formerly called Howard University’s College of Fine Arts, where he was mentored under the wing of actress Phylicia Rashad, who acts as current dean of the college.
It shall now be known as Chadwick A Boseman College of Fine Arts. The University has also released a time-lapse of the installation of the college’s new name. Watch below:
The University has expressed how this is not only about honoring the actor, but also paving a way for this legacy to continue on, so that future generations may be inspired by it as well.
It was known that Boseman worked hard at preserving Howard’s fine arts college and this comes as a fitting gesture to show the college’s gratitude to the alumnus.
Boseman spent a good four years battling colon cancer, but he never did reveal so to the public. With his lush smile disguising his weak days, he supported as many cancer charities and individuals as he could.
He took to his heavenly abode on August 28, 2020. While it is never going to be easy to say goodbye to individuals like Boseman, fans and close ones have found ways of honoring him through donations and other charitable acts.
Chadwick Boseman was our Black Panther, appearing in a total of four Marvel movies.
The team of the upcoming Black Panther 2 has stated that they too will be doing their best to give the movie proper treatment, doing justice to Boseman, both on-screen and off.
Besides Black Panther, Boseman had acclaimed roles in Marshall, 42, Get On Up and others. His last visual appearance was in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, for which he was nominated and awarded.
However, his “final” work will be the currently on-air What If…? where he voiced Star-Lord T’Challa in the second episode. Production states that Boseman will appear in three more episodes of the show’s first season.
