The story of a Roman slave’s struggle for survival had already intrigued people enough to be heavily invested in Shizuya Wazarai’s 1997 manga “Cestvs: The Roman Fighter.”
Now years later, you will finally be able to see the anime adaptation of this grim tale of the ancient Roman Empire. You must have already seen the first teaser for this anime which will premiere in April.
Finally, the official website of Cestvs: The Roman Fighter has released another PV for this much-awaited anime releasing on April 14th on Fuji TV’s Ultra+ animation block.
The PV shows Cestus’ determination as he prepares himself for yet another slave fight. His trainer Zafar can be seen cheering for Cestus’ victory while a glimpse of his fight with a trained fighter is shown.
The PV is also accompanied by the anime’s ending theme song titled “You’re Beautiful” by Sarasa Kadowaki.
Kadowaki commented on being quite inspired by the original manga and reading it throughout the process of making the song.
The original story of Cestvs: The Roman Fighter is about a Roman slave named Cestus, who is forced to take part in slave fights with his life on the line. His gradual progression from being a scared little boy to a trained boxer is depicted in the series.
While the anime centers on Cestus’ life, it also shows just how cruel the slaves were treated in ancient Roman times.
If you want to revisit the Roman Empire then you should definitely give Cestvs: The Roman Fighter a watch this April 14th.
