Minecraft’s latest snapshots have brought a flurry of new content, featuring new mob variants for old farm friends like pigs, cows, and chickens. Additionally, sheep are now biome-specific, with white, brown, and black sheep appearing in different environments, although they’ll retain their existing designs.

The snapshots have also introduced a bouquet of new flowers, including Wildflowers and Cactus flowers, as well as two new types of dry grasses. In a surprise twist, the previously canceled mob, Fireflies, has joined the Minecraft family as a welcome addition.

These updates are accompanied by a range of new features, including atmospheric sounds, leaf litter, firefly bushes, and falling leaves animations, which were added in recent snapshots and the Bedrock Preview build released on February 12, 2025.

With testable features already available in Java Snapshots and Bedrock Preview, we’re guessing that the next Minecraft update may drop in late February or March 2025.
