Carl Weathers, actor and director of The Mandalorian, promises a broader scope of action scenes to explore in Season 3. The actor plays the character Greef Karga in the Disney+ series and has been a supportive ally to Pedro Pascal’s titular character since day one.
The Mandalorian first aired on Disney+ in 2019, and Season 3 will be back with Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and little Grogu (or, as more fondly called, Baby Yoda) sometime in 2023 after a two-year gap. However, we have already seen progress in the story for the duo since Season 2, in three episodes of The Book of Boba Fett.
Carl Weathers may have only appeared briefly in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, but Chapter 12: The Siege marked his directorial debut in the Star Wars franchise. In this particular episode, fans witnessed spectacular action sequences and gripping scenes starring the Nevarro crew—both on land and in the air.
Not only that, but Chapter 12 also marked a significant plot twist in the series when Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian and his team discover that Moff Gideon, played by Giancarlo Esposito, had survived in Season 1.
In an interview with Empire, Carl Weathers shared a few details about his directorial work in The Mandalorian Season 3. He teased even more action-packed scenes in his episode compared to Season 2 Episode 12, even mentioning that the Season 3 episode will have “many, many different kinds of stories within the story.”
“Oh, there was a bit more [action], I think, in this one. It’s a little different [to The Siege] because a lot of it had a lot more scope.”
This update, following the confirmation of Mandalorian and Grogu’s journey veering to Mandalore, where Din Djarin will atone for the sinful removing of his helmet, assures fans that Carl Weathers’ promises will be kept.
Weathers is not the only one to speak about the series’ turn into a darker and more intense storyline. Pedro Pascal and Katee Sackhoff have also mentioned a change in the upcoming season, which will enrich the growth and development of the characters and their struggles.
Fans have high hopes for Season 3 after its huge success with the past two seasons, and the cast and crew have only fed their expectations with promises of better plots and scenes coming soon. Guess we’ll just have to wait till 2023 to see if they deliver.
