Capcom gave a big surprise to the fans of the Resident Evil franchise. In a Livestream, the company showcased the latest entry in the franchise, Resident Evil 8, a.k.a. Resident Evil Village. The event’s highlight was the announcement of the stand-alone demo that is available exclusively on the PS5.
However, after the announcement, the sheer volume of fans that visited the PlayStation 5 store resulted in the website crashing temporarily. Consequently, many fans were not able to locate the demo.
Capcom announced Resident Evil 8, a.k.a. Village in a Livestream, along with a playable demo available on the PS5 store. However, the store website crashed after the announcement due to the large influx of fans.
A lot of details regarding the new game were not revealed by Capcom. They did, however, give us a release date, i.e., May 7, 2021. But the thing that became the talk of the gaming world was the Resident Evil 8 PS5 demo.
In the stand-alone demo, called Maiden, the players do not play as the series protagonist Ethan Winters. Instead, they will be playing as a character known as ‘The Maiden.’ According to a blogpost on PlayStation, in the demo, the players would not be able to fight or block, but they will control ‘The Maiden’ as she attempts to escape from the ‘Dimitrescu Castle.’
The demo’s announcement generated so much excitement from the fans that it led to the PS5 store website crashing immediately after the demo went live. While the fans were able to get to the website, the search function was unavailable. Many could not even find any mention of Resident Evil 8. The message, “Can’t connect now. Try again later,” kept popping up on the website.
The issue, however, seems to have been fixed now. As of 3:08 PM, PST, the website is up and running. It is functioning, and the players can now get their hands on The Maiden.
