Blizzard’s latest MMO action RPG, Diablo Immortal, has taken the gaming world by storm. Due to the series’ well-established reputation, millions of novices and Diablo veterans are downloading the game every day and putting hundreds and thousands of hours into it.
However, despite the popularity of its Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) aspect, many players worldwide are concerned about whether they can enjoy the game offline without an active internet connection? Sadly, the answer to this question is disheartening for these players.
Diablo Immortal cannot be played in offline mode without an active internet connection, as confirmed by Wyatt Cheng, lead game designer, in an interview at BlizzCon.
Diablo Immortal does not have an offline mode because it belongs to the MMO genre, which tends to push forward and prioritise the typical co-op multiplayer aspect of the gameplay.
Even though the game has a campaign mode and several dungeons that can be completed solo, still, you will be required to connect to the internet if you wish to play through them. Every time you log in to the game, it connects you to a server with other players on it.
Unfortunately, staying connected to a stable internet connection all the time while playing can sometimes be problematic, especially for mobile players, and the chances of disconnecting mid-game are incredibly high.
What happens if you get disconnected while playing Diablo Immortal?
Players will be given ten seconds to re-join the session if they disconnect from the internet while playing Diablo Immortal. Failing to do so will send them back to the main menu.
Luckily, these 10 seconds are not absolute, and you can keep hitting retry to refresh the countdown until you connect back to the game.
If you reconnect to the game, you will pick up from exactly where you left, which means if you dropped in the middle of a battle, other players could still damage you for the time you were disconnected.
