Cancelling Construction in Frostpunk 2? Can you abort a building construction?

Frostpunk 2 is a post-apocalyptic city-building survival game where players take on the role of a leader tasked to ensure the survival and rejuvenation of human civilization. Just like any other city-building game, you need to raise various structures to ensure progress.

However, many times you may end up making a mistake and constructing the wrong building in the wrong area, which commonly, can be demolished later, but is there a way to cancel the construction of the building itself and recover the amount spent on it?

1. Can you cancel construction in Frostpunk 2?

Construction cannot be canceled in Frostpunk 2. Once players decide what they want to build and set it up, there is no way to halt the building process. However, the construction of Trails and Skyways may be canceled by clicking the hammer icon.

Canceling the construction of Trails and Skyways will get you a refund of all the used-up resources. But, unfortunately, in the case of districts and other buildings, you must wait for their construction to be complete and then demolish them to reclaim a small part of the resources used to build them.

Demolishing a building takes additional time. Frostpunk 2 is not lenient towards even the smallest of mistakes made by the players and punishes them for their misclicks and misjudgments.

2. How to demolish buildings in Frostpunk 2?

To demolish a building or a district in Frostpunk 2:

• Head to the information panel.
• Select the desired building or district.
• Click on the destroy button on the bottom left.

The ‘destroy’ button looks like a house with a cross across it. After doing this, you have to wait for the demolishing timer to be complete and receive a part of your resources back.

This is the only way to remove a building in the game and it acts as an alternative for the lack of the construction cancellation feature.

Additionally, you can cancel the very planning of the construction before you set up any buildings. It is a measure to avoid any future errors.

3. How to cancel construction planning in Frostpunk 2?

Construction planning can be canceled by deselecting all the tiles selected for the construction. This is the only method in Frostpunk 2 to terminate a construction before it begins.

To plan a construction, players must select desired tiles and click on the check mark. If they make any errors in the process or just change their mind about the construction, they can simply deselect the tiles.

While deselecting, you can choose to remove a few tiles to tweak the construction area, or you may remove all the selected tiles entirely to start anew.
