Can the Modern Warfare 2 campaign be played in co-op mode?

Players who have pre-ordered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 can start playing the game’s campaign from today.

Modern Warfare 2 campaign features numerous action-packed levels which can be played. But if you’re planning on playing the campaign with your friends, then you’ll be disappointed.

Unfortunately, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign cannot be played in co-op mode with friends and it’s solely a single-player experience. It’s very unlikely that a co-op mode for the campaign will be added later as it is an exclusively single-player experience.

There hasn’t been a co-op campaign in a Call of Duty game since Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. It’s disappointing as the campaign is filled with exciting missions which would be even more fun if it was co-op.

What Game Modes Can Be Played in Co-Op in Modern Warfare 2?

Even though the campaign isn’t available in co-op mode, there are still various game modes that can be played with friends either via multiplayer or split-screen multiplayer.

There are two main game modes that can be played in co-op which are Spec Ops and Multiplayer. Spec Ops features missions against AI which you can complete with friends, and Multiplayer is just traditional Call of Duty multiplayer against bots or real players.

Spec Ops is also the closest you’ll get to play the campaign mode with friends as the mode also consists of missions just like campaign missions. But it’s definitely worth trying out these modes with friends if you want to just have fun or play competitively.
