There has been a lot of hype around Pokemon Scarlet and Violet since it’s introducing a lot of new game mechanics that fans have never experienced before. For instance, you can use exclusive legendaries of Scarlet and Violet as mounts right from the beginning of the game!
Scarlet and Violet introduced a brand-new mechanic that allows you to play the game with your friends, family, and other players from all around the world.
You can co-op with other players in Scarlet and Violet through multiplayer mode. Through co-op, you can battle against or with your friends, trade Pokemon, and adventure through Paldea region. Only three players can join your world through the co-op mechanic.
You can enter the multiplayer mode by using the Union Circle feature in Poke Portal.
Scarlet and Violet Co-Op Features
The previous installments in the Pokemon franchise such as Sword and Shield did have multiplayer mechanisms, but they were largely limited. Meanwhile, Scarlet and Violet offer a more diverse co-op gameplay, which makes multiplayer mode more enjoyable.
1. Open-world exploration
You can invite up to 3 other players in your world and travel through Paldea together. This feature can be accessed through the Union Circle option.
2. Tera Raid battles
By battling in Tera Raid battles, you can capture Pokemon with certain, unique Tera types by beating them within the time limit. Fellow Scarlet and Violet players can join you in these raids and even cheer for you during the battle, boosting your stats.
3. Trading Pokemon
You can trade Pokemon through two types of trading systems in the game. Link Trade will let you trade your Pokemon with a specific person, while Surprise Trade allows you to trade Pokemon with any random player in the world.
4. Battle Stadium
Not only can you battle along with other players, but you can also battle against them in Battle Stadium. If you are looking for a laid-back, fun battle, you can engage in Casual Battles where wins or losses don’t matter.
But if you need something a little more competitive, you can participate in Ranked Battles and Online Competitions.
Can you play Pokemon Scarlet and Violet together at the same time?
You can’t play Pokemon Scarlet and Violet together at the same time since they are two different games, despite having the same game content. You can’t transfer game data between both games either. However, you can play both games separately by buying both editions.
This is because the legendaries and some Pokemon are exclusive to a particular game and impact the story and open world. For example, Pokemon Scarlet has only Koraidon, so the lore in Pokemon Scarlet will revolve only around Koraidon.
Allowing the transfer of data from Scarlet to Violet will lead to inconsistency in the gameplay as well as the game experience.
However, this also means you can’t complete your Pokedex since your edition might not have the exclusive Pokemon of another edition. But fear not. You can simply co-op with a player who owns Pokemon Violet if you own Pokemon Scarlet, or vice-versa.
