In episode 8 of Call of the Night, as a reward for the massage Kou gave to one of her clients, Nazuna kisses him in front of other vampires.

Meanwhile, Kou learns that a critical time limit may disrupt or even endanger his plans to become a vampire. After a long time, he meets Mahiru again after coming to terms with the troubles on his path.

Episode 9 Speculation

By the end of episode 8, despite the long waiting period, Yamori pledged never to give up on his dream of becoming a vampire. Yamori doesn’t seem to know anything about vampires.

There may be a deadline within which Yamori must become a vampire, which the vampires might mention. Yamori and Nazuna may face trouble if they fail to do so. The death of Yamori and the banishing of Nazuna are possible outcomes.

Additionally, it seems that some vampires may interfere with Yamori and Nazuna’s affairs with many such vampires introduced. Nazuna’s love life will interest the vampire group since they love cliches.

Episode 8 Recap

Kou confesses that he plans to become a vampire once he realizes why the other vampires tried kidnapping him. They are in a relationship because he wants to one day become like her while she wants to suck his blood.

Kou tells the vampires that Nazuna has even told him to fall in love with her even if they do not trust her plans to have offspring. Kou, however, becomes silent when he declares he will wait as long as necessary to become a vampire.

After getting his blood sucked for the first time, Kou learns that humans can become vampires within a year. As Nazuna never told Kou about it, Kou is understandably shocked. In response to his blank stare, she apologizes for forgetting to tell him the crucial information.

The following day, she kissed him as if to send a message to other vampires about giving her client a massage. Kou accidentally encounters Seri while walking around the city at night the following day.

While initially avoiding her, he eventually opens up about his struggle to love Nazuna to her. His concerns are listened to carefully by Seri, who suggests he take her on a date. In the beginning, Nazuna rejects the idea, but he eventually convinces her.

The duo returns home after a disastrous date in the middle of the night. The team spends some time together after Nazuna picks Kou up from his house when she feels hungry later. Mahiru, Akira’s childhood friend, asks her about Kou’s absence after a long time.

Mahiru also mentions that he has recently met someone with whom he plans night dates. They finally talk after a long time the following night after Kou meets him on the street. Mahiru is also informed about Nazuna’s vampire status soon afterward by Akira, who did not mention it.

She asks if he likes spending time with her, and Mahiru does not seem to mind. Since Kou was one of his first friends, he is delighted to have reunited with him finally. Akira always made him feel comfortable, regardless of how shy he thought about opening up to him.

Mahiru tells Akira and Kou that his friend is waiting for him as soon as he receives a message. Akira seems somewhat skeptical about this, but Kou doesn’t see it that way because Mahiru is quite famous and naturally popular with girls.

Meanwhile, Kou starts searching for Nazuna while Akira decides to go home and sleep. In the meantime, Nazuna is also unaware of the location of Kou. She sees Mahiru with a girl heading in the opposite direction as she walks around looking for him.

She notices him helping hands with his girlfriend, even though she does not know about their friendship with Kou. After meeting Kou briefly, she asks for his hand, and the two walk around the streets together like a couple. The two friends are unaware that a friend of theirs is also going out with a vampire. Kou is a vampire, and his girlfriend is Kiku Hoshimi.

It details Kiku’s unpredictable nature in the light novel, even though the show does not give any information about Mahiru’s girlfriend.

Once she has turned someone into a vampire, she tends to forget them, making her one of the most powerful vampires. Kiku is also a significant love interest for Mahiru, as he has been with many others before him.

Call of the Night manga by Kotoyama was first published in the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 2019. The series will receive an anime adaptation in July 2022.

The series’ plot focuses on Ko Yamori, a human, and Nazuna, a laid-back and free-spirited vampire. After Ko discovers Nazuna’s nature, he wants to become a vampire too.

Yet, the only way to turn into a vampire is by falling in love with one.
