If there’s one thing that can be said for Activision, it’s that Warzone receives a steady stream of updates. As it should be, considering Warzone is one of the most popular games (mode) the company has currently. Now, it’s going to be getting a graphical overhaul as Activision has released a next-gen texture pack for the game.
Adding 7GB to the already massive file size, the texture pack has been released for Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War. It is coming to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The pack has been recommended for displays of 1440p and higher, so the base last-gen consoles won’t be able to make use of it.
This is the fifth texture pack that has been released for the game, with the previous ones focused on weapons and character models.
Along with a constant string of texture updates, Warzone has also been facing its fair share of bugs. Some of them are amusing, like the murder door found in Karst Salt Mine, which would kill anyone that touched it. Others are practically game-breaking, such as when bounty contracts appear in the Gulag, making them impossible to complete.
One of the biggest bugs in recent times actually broke the game’s competitive format. Players could glitch behind walls and sometimes even below the map, giving them access to otherwise off-limits areas.
Not only were they hidden from enemies there, but they could also shoot without being seen. They were both invisible and invincible. Activision has stated that they are working on a fix for this, and since then, thankfully, reports of this bug have been dropping.
Fixing whatever bugs pop up in Warzone will be essential for Activision, as it may be carrying the company for the coming year. Tom Henderson, a credible leaker for Call of Duty and Battlefield news, has stated that the next CoD dubbed Vanguard will be a “Black Ops Cold War 2.0.”
This basically means the game will be pretty lackluster. Vanguard is slated for release in 2021, and Warzone will receive a WW2 map as a crossover. This map will be larger than Verdansk and makes room for additional vehicles and travel options rather than just fitting more players.
Those who have next-gen consoles can expect the update to start downloading as soon as you connect to Wi-Fi through your system. Just make sure you have enough room to spare, given that Warzone is already a massive game and seems to just keep growing.
