Call of Duty: Vanguard is 2021’s addition to the popular first-person shooter franchise, and there has been a flood of announcements concerning the game since its first reveal last week.
While the release is still months away, we now know how the game’s campaign will play out, its graphical capabilities, and a little about file sizes too.
Thanks to developer Sledgehammer Games, the latest trailer to arrive for the game introduces a new mode called Champion Hill.
Said to be a mix of Battle Royale and Gunfight, Champion Hill will give players the chance to compete solo or with seven other squads in groups of two or three. Each player or group will start with a limited number of lives, and the goal will be to cut the total lives of other squads down to zero.
Like the number of lives, each player will get the same loadout to kick off their session. Cash collected by defeating enemies and picking up drops will allow players to upgrade their ammo and unlock new Perks and Killstreaks. Additionally, members of a defeated squad can choose to enter Spectate Mode, which will enable them to continue being a part of an ongoing game.
Of the 20 multiplayer maps in Vanguard, Champion Hill will get four: Airstrip, Trainyard, Market, and Courtyard.
If Champion Hill excites you and your platform of choice is a PS4 or PS5, you won’t have to wait too long to try the new mode. Sledgehammer Games also announced Vanguard’s free alpha that will go live for PlayStation on Friday, August 27 at 10 AM PT.
Fans will have access to the alpha until 10 AM PT, August 29, and a PlayStation Plus subscription is not mandatory. So, all you need is a Sony console, and you’re good to go.
Call of Duty: Vanguard drops on November 5 for PC, PS4|5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. If you wish to read more about Champion Hill and the upcoming alpha, head to Call of Duty’s blog post.
