A new year means a new Call of Duty announcement. Now, it’s still early in the year for the full announcement, but it’s definitely that time when people start to speculate on what the new game might offer. Developer Infinity Ward has stoked the flames of curiosity by dropping the first-ever tease for what will be Call of Duty 2022.
The tease was dropped on the official Infinity Ward Twitter account, where the team stated that
a new generation of Call of Duty is coming soon.

The account urged fans to “stay frosty” so they can be aware of new information on the next Call of Duty game. Given that there is very little to go off of in this teaser, fans are speculating as to what is in the works.
Fans are mostly expecting to see Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, a follow-up to the 2019 reboot of the subseries. Given the past trend of the subseries cycles, it seems to be the most likely rumor floating around and also lines up with the other theories of where the series is headed.
Many of the characters introduced in Warzone will likely appear in Modern Warfare 2, so it is unlikely that Infinity Ward would abandon those opportunities.
One thing should be noted when it comes to the Infinity Ward tease. Rumors have also been going around of a potential Warzone 2, which may be revealed at some point during this year. It’s been close to two years since the first iteration was released, so it is likely that the fans may get a new version.
There is no guarantee of this, but Warzone is a massive money-maker, and it would benefit from an updated version that supports future integrations.
Fans will have to wait until Infinity Ward is ready to release more information. Call of Duty games have been fully revealed in May in the past; however, it took longer with last year’s entry. But, with the poor performance of Call of Duty Vanguard, Activision may want to act fast and reveal something new to keep fans hopeful.
About Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard
Call of Duty: Vanguard is an upcoming first-person shooter by Sledgehammer Games. The game will likely throw players into all the action in World War II, much like 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII. Currently, the game has no confirmed release date.
