Think you have what it takes to defeat the mighty Genesect alone?
As a Raid Boss of the fifth difficulty level, this mythical Pokémon from the Unova region proves to be one of the most challenging, despite its dual weakness to fire-type attacks.
Most people choose to team up with a friend or more, but if you’re looking to brave this fight alone, you’re going to need some battle tips and strategies to ensure your victory.
So let’s get started!
1. How to Solo Genesect in Pokémon Go – Battle Guide

Genesect, the ancient Bug- and Steel-type Mythical Pokémon from the Unova region, is a prehistoric Pokémon altered by Team Plasma and equipped with a powerful cannon.
In Pokémon GO, Genesect is a Tier 5 Raid Boss with 47,836 CP and has a double weakness to Fire-Type moves. That’s why, when battling Genesect, fire-power is the key!
A regular encounter at Level 20 will give you a Genesect with 1,916 CP, while a weather-boosted encounter at Level 25 during Rainy or Snow conditions will result in a more powerful Genesect with 2,395 CP.
To solo Genesect, use strong Fire-Type Pokémon like Chandelure, Reshiram, Darmanitan, Moltres, Charizard, Heatran, and Blaziken.
Genesect has five forms, including its Normal form, each with a unique drive: Burn, Chill, Douse, and Shock. All forms can now be encountered as shiny Pokémon. While Genesect can be transferred between accounts, it’s not eligible for trading.
2. Pokémon Go Genesect – Drives, Attacks, and Counter Strategies

Genesect’s unique drives not only change its appearance but also determine the type of its powerful Charged Attack, Techno Blast. There are four drives to discover:
- Shock Drive: Yellow light, Electric-type Techno Blast
- Douse Drive: Blue light, Water-type Techno Blast
- Chill Drive: White light, Ice-type Techno Blast
- Burn Drive: Red light, Fire-type Techno Blast
As a Bug- and Steel-type Pokémon, Genesect has a major weakness: Fire-type attacks.
To maximize your damage output, focus on assembling a team of six Pokémons that boast a winning combination of high CP, strong overall stats, and – most importantly – Fire-type Fast and Charged Attacks.
The best picks for this raid battle team are the fire Pokémons Chandelure, Reshiram, Darmanitan, Moltres, Charizard, Heatran, and Blaziken.
While it’s not necessary to choose only Fire-type Pokémon, those that share this type will benefit from a same-type attack bonus (STAB), dealing 20% more damage.

It is best to defeat Genesect as quickly as possible, as it affects the number of Premier Balls you’ll receive after the raid. Are you ready to put your skills to the test and prove you’re a true Pokémon master?
