Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4 Ep 9: Release Date, Speculation, Discussion

The members of the Detective Agency meet old acquaintances and enemies in episode 8 of Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4, titled “You, A Child of Sin. I, A Child of Sin”. Chuuya helps Kunikida’s group escape by a helicopter but are caught by Tetchou’s sword.

Kunikida seemingly sacrifices himself to stop him. Atsushi and Kyouka seek help from Francis, who puts forward a deal in return.

Mori meets up with Tanizaki, Yosano, and Kenji in the Port Mafia hideout. It is also revealed that Dazai let himself be caught intentionally to be transferred to Mersault to face Fyodor.

Episode 9 Speculation

Episode 9 is titled “A Dream of Butterflies”. The Agency Members are doing everything they can to save themselves and get out of their current predicament. With Dazai on the scene, things ought to get interesting, considering he is one of the few who can go against Fyodor.

It’s a matter of race to find out the other’s method of external communication, and Dazai may yet again surprise Fyodor.

The next episode will also show the deal between Francis and the Agency being carried out. Francis has told them to meet in twenty minutes.

Although, Mori is suspicious of his intentions, Francis may actually be on Agency’s side this time as Margaret’s life is on the line. However, since Francis is highly driven by profit, he may ditch the Agency if he sees a bigger opportunity.

Recap of Episode 8

Chuuya saves Kunikida, Yosano, Tanizaki, and Kenji and helps them up the helicopter. He tells them that the reason Port Mafia saved them is because Fukuzawa made a deal with Mori to transfer one of their members to Port Mafia.

As they talk, Tetchou extends his sword and hooks it to the helicopter. Kunikida jumps out, taking Tetchou with him, and uses Doppo Poet to create a grenade. The Agency members look on in horror as the grenade explodes midair.

Two days later, Atsushi and Kyouka finally comes out of their hiding. They disguise themselves, and Atsushi desperately tries to devise a plan. He remembers Dazai’s words and realizes that Mushitaro may be the only one who can help them now. Since he was kidnapped, Atsushi calls Francis to help with his ability.

After reaching his building, the duo sees Agatha injured, and Atsushi rushes to Francis’s room. He witness Nathaniel, now a member of the Rats of the Dead, facing Francis to kill him. However, Francis uses his ability to throw a pen with great force, injuring him, and he escapes.

Atsushi tries to tell Francis about the Agency’s innocence, thought Francis is still dubious. Francis tells him that it will be impossible to defeat Fyodor since he is currently being held in a high class detention center called Mersault.

A detained Fyodor thinks of how they must eliminate Francis due to his Eyes of God. At the same time, Francis tries to take off the pen he threw and realizes that Nathaniel left his blood on it to activate his ability. Francis has no time to act but is saved by the sprinklers getting turned on at the right moment by Kyouka.

Kyouka tells them that she got a warning to turn on the sprinklers on the display downstairs. Meanwhile, Dazai faces Fyodor, telling him that he has thwarted his attempt to kill Francis, with a smirk on his face.

Ango and others wait for Chief Taneda to wake up. Ango remembers how his ideologies clashed with Taneda’s as he favored legal justice, and chief was willing to sacrifice lives for the greater good. However, Ango didn’t think Taneda would put himself on the line too.

Dazai tells Fyodor that he got caught purposefully since the only way he can hinder Fyodor is by facing him. They start picking apart each other’s brain to learn the other’s contact method to the outside world, considering they are in the most secure jail. Dazai confidently declares he will be able to see through Fyodor.

Atsushi asks Francis to help them find Mushitaro. Francis agrees on the condition that Yosano will save Margaret’s life. Atsushi denies in the beginning, knowing Francis will use Margaret to kill Nathaniel, the very person who she risked her life for. However, after seeing Margaret’s dire condition in person, he agrees.

In the meantime, Mori visits Yosano, Kenji, and Tanizaki at the Port Mafia hideout. Yosano gets angry at him when she realizes they don’t have any means to prove their innocence.

Mori tries to taunt Yosano by telling her that Fukuzawa was willing to give her p as well, knowing well enough that their Fukuzawa asked for Yosano to be excluded in their deal.

At that moment, Hirotsu brings a radio to Mori that was left on their entrance by Francis. Francis tells him about his deal with Atsushi and that he is on his way there.

Kenji and Tanizaki are happy, but Mori is suspicious of Francis siding with the Agency instead of the Military when the latter is more profitable to him. He tells them that the transaction maybe a trap.
