Oguri is confident in his abilities but starts getting anxious when Ranpo forces him to drive him to the agency, recounting the details of the murder case.
Here are the latest updates.
1. Episode 4 Speculation
Episode 5 is titled “A Perfect Murder and Murderer (Part 2)”. Ranpo is hot on Oguri’s trail. Although his manner may appear nonchalant now, it’s highly likely that he already knows the whole truth and approached Oguri knowing that. He has probably told Poe the truth, and he may help him with Oguri’s capture.
We will probably see the conclusion to “The Perfect Murder” in the next episode. We might get some clues from Oguri from Fyodor, but Fyodor is a very cautious man, so he might have thought of the situation in advance.

3. Recap of Episode 4
In the present time, Ranpo promises Kunikida that he will get him out of the cell and clear his name. He further states that he shouldn’t accept the charge just because of his guilt, and he will do his best to find the evidence destroyer amongst the Rats.
Ranpo gets Poe to help him as his evidence points them to the observation deck. Poe tells him that he came to the tower to claim something he won at an auction and reveals it’s a manuscript of an author who was killed in the same way he wrote in his novel. The author’s first three chapters were pretty famous, and the killer took the manuscript of the fourth chapter, so it was believed that the chapter had some kind of hint.
Ranpo tells Poe that the author was killed to make the manuscript more valuable and sell it, which is confirmed when Poe tells him that he got it for 20 million since he wanted to solve the mystery himself.
Surprisingly, they spot the red envelope that was supposed to contain the manuscript on a window with an arrow pointing upwards. In that second, a body of a man falls from the roof in front of them. The man’s face matched the one they had of the evidence destroyer.
Poe and Ranpo reach the body downwards, and Ranpo deduces that his face was actually forged as he was falling since the killer knew it will be too disfigured to recognize later, and the evidence destroyer did everything to destroy all the clues.
The evidence destroyer, a man named Oguri Mushitaro, watches from the crowd and laughs at the detectives. He uses his ability, The Perfect Crime, to destroy all the remaining evidence from the scene. It’s revealed that Fyodor hired him to help him with his operation in exchange for helping him flee from a criminal organization that locked him in to exploit his ability.
Oguri muses about how he killed the author and stole his manuscript and is confident in his ability. Just then, Ranpo interrupts him. Oguri gets anxious at first but relaxes when Ranpo asks him the way to the taxi stop.
Their back and forth leads them to Ranpo forcing himself in Oguri’s car and asking to be taken to The Detective Agency. Oguri tries to protest but has to relent because of Ranpo’s nature.
Ranpo asks Oguri if he wants to hear about the case he is working on, and he cautiously says yes. He starts unraveling the mystery one by one, and Oguri starts getting visibly uncomfortable.
