Destiny 2’s policies are about to get updated, and the news comes right ahead of the release of the game’s major mid-season update, which is expected to bring huge changes to the game and also add hefty damage boosts to some of the weapons in the game.
Fans kept constantly complaining about players using third-party peripherals to gain an unfair advantage in a match. This has been one of the major problems with Destiny 2, but it seems like Bungie has finally listened to those complaints and is taking action on it.
Responding to complaints from players, Bungie has announced that it will be taking action against players using tools “specifically to gain an advantage over other players.” The new rules will apply to tools that work to disrupt the “experience the game designers intended.”
Hardware covered by the new policy include a variety of third-party peripherals, from keyboard and mouse adapters to controllers to macro software and “automation via artificial intelligence.” The devices that are exempt from this new policy are accessibility devices used by disabled players that play the game.
While a single policy or change can’t eliminate cheating entirely from the game, it’s still a step in the right direction for Destiny 2. Props to Bungie for listening to feedback from the players and taking action on it to take the game a step closer to the right direction.
