Kazuki backstory is finally revealed in episode 7, titled “After Rain Comes Fair Weather”. Annoyed by Rei and Miri’s nonchalant and unthankful behavior, Kazuki gets angry and leaves to take a day off. Meanwhile, Rei struggles to care for such a young kid and panics when Miri falls ill. Karin, Kazuki’s sister-in-law, meets up with Kazuki, and all the memories of his dead wife comes crashing down on him.

Kazuki visits Yuzuko’s grave and reminisce about the past. Karin assures Kazuki, telling him to live his life without any guilt. Kazuki returns home, happy to see Rei taking more responsibility for Miri, and now being able to put up his picture with Yuzuko on display.

1. Episode 8 Speculation 

Kazuki has now started finally healing from his traumatic past, moving past his wife’s death but still remembering the happy times with her. It seems that Miri’s existence has been a blessing in disguise for both Rei and Kazuki since they are finally getting a chance to heal from their past traumas. 

Since Rei has also started realizing how hard it is to raise a kid, he will start helping more around the house. We will probably also get to know more about Rei’s past soon and the story of how the two guys met. Next episode will also probably show them handling another job since it’s been a while.

Episode 8 of the Buddy Daddies anime has been released on Friday, Feb 24, 2023. The episode title or preview has not been shown.

No, episode 7 of Buddy Daddies is not on a break this week. No delay has been announced so far, and the episode will be released on the above-stated date as per schedule.

3. Episode 7 Recap

While taking Miri back from the daycare, she is almost run over by a truck which makes Kazuki remember his traumatic past, and he remarks that he doesn’t like the rainy season.

The work of taking care of a young child on top of the housework keeps piling on Kazuki, and he starts getting more annoyed since Rei does nothing to help him. He finds a photo of him with his dead wife in a drawer and keeps it inside again.

During dinner, the constant complaints from Rei and Miri about the food finally makes him loose his temper, and he leaves them both the next day. A panicked Rei rushes to get all of Miri’s things and get her to the daycare, only to realize it’s Sunday and, thus, a holiday. 

Kazuki complains to Kyutaro about Rei’s and Miri’s behavior at his café. Kyutaro tells him that Karin, Kazuki’s sister-in-law, visited and left all the money he had been sending her and wanted to meet her. Kyutaro advises Kazuki to talk to her, but Kazuki leaves.

Kazuki tries to enjoy his time at a casino. Because of how late it has gotten, Rei tells Miri that Kazuki might have abandoned them.

A drunk Kazuki gets beaten by some thugs and thrown near trash which is where Karin finds him. She tries to talk to him and tells him to stop avoiding her. She also tells him that it is not his fault her sister died, but Kazuki says he killed her and leaves.

It is revealed that Yuzuko and their unborn child died during one of his assassinations, which is why the guilt still haunts him. Meanwhile, Miri develops a fever, and Rei feels helpless and afraid since he doesn’t know what to do. He rushes to Kyutaro in the rain with Miri in his arms, asking for help. 

Kazuki visits Yuzuko’s grave and recalls when he first met her. Karin finds him at one of Yuzuko’s favorite places and tells him it’s fine to move past her sister’s death as it’s been more than five years. Kazuki keeps apologizing and tells her that he is afraid of changing and forgetting how he let her die.

Karin tells him that she is going to study fashion in France. Since Yuzuko always encouraged her, she wanted to tell her that she had made it. She tells Kazuki to live his life too, to make Yuzuko happy. She reveals that Kyu has told her about Miri, and she is sure that Kazuki will make Miri happy too. 

The sun comes out, beautifully shinning on the hydrangeas, and Kazuki decides to let himself free finally. Kazuki returns home and finds Rei sleeping by Miri’s side. He notices the medicine, and smiles after realizing the situation.

Rei and Miri makes French toast for Kazuki. He tells them that he will teach them to make an actually good toast. He gives a new umbrella to Miri to replace her broken one.

The photo of Yuzuko and Kazuki is retrieved from the drawer and now displayed on Kazuki’s computer.

Buddy Daddies is an anime by Nitroplus and P.A. Works studio. It is directed by Yoshiyuki Asai and directed by Vio Shimokura. The first season premiered on January 6, 2023.

Kazuki and Rei are two roommates who are also assassins. While Kazuki has an extrovert personality and loves gambling and women, Rei speaks less and enjoys video games. One day, they end up taking care of Miri, a 4-year-old girl who is the daughter of one of their targets, a mafia leader.
