Keanu Reeves, the iconic actor from Matrix and John Wick, is now ready to storm the anime world. What better way to win over otakus than to play a character with a dark story?
In March 2021, it was confirmed that BRZRKR, the comic book series co-created by Keanu Reeves and Matt Kindt, would be adapted into an anime series. After more than a year of waiting, more information has finally arrived.
At the San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Studio Production I.G. would be animating BRZRKR, and it will receive two seasons. Netflix acquired the rights to the original comics, so the website will stream the series once it airs.
Apart from the anime, Netflix would also adapt the story into a feature film. Reeves is set to produce the upcoming film as well as star in it. The anime will “further expand the BRZRKR universe by exploring different elements of the story.”
Keanu Reeves will voice the protagonist of the anime, “B.” Not only will he lend the character his voice, but also his looks.
The famous actor is often known for his dark roles, and BRZRKR is another dark tale of a half-mortal and half-god being who is doomed to eternal violence and pain.
If anyone can fit into the role of an immortal warrior, it’s Keanu Reeves. Co-writer Kindt commented that the twist at the story’s end made him want to work on the project.
In a nutshell, BRZRKR is not just a story of violence but also about B’s journey of trying to find purpose and peace. The anime will bring to life a story that spans over 80,000 years of war.
