It is hard for us to believe that eight years have passed since we first entered the 99th precinct in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. As its tale winds up, the series has promised to go out in a blaze of glory, come August 12.
In May, the show released a montage made up of iconic B99 moments, right from our favorite, backstabbing heists to Jake’s signature “Cool, cool, cool, cool”.
We can’t help but think that “family”, both blood and beyond, may be the focus of this season, as the clip shows mum Amy and dad Jake walking into the precinct stroller in hand.
A production log line also alludes to the same.
Jake and the squad must try to balance their personal lives and their professional lives over the course of a very difficult year.

You may have noticed that Season 8 has taken a longer while to come back. This is because the previously written first four episodes were disposed off after the events of George Floyd’s murder in May 2020 and the subsequent protests against police violence.
The show needed to take a step back to re-evaluate how a police comedy can find its place in the current world’s scenario.
No one likes to say goodbye to their favorite show, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine has survived the stretch of fate (and renewals) that most shows don’t, especially not without being labeled as boring, repetitive or past its prime.
Creator Dan Groor too believes that Season 8 is the perfect time to wrap it all up.

Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honor the characters, the story and our viewers. I know some people will be disappointed it’s ending so soon, but honestly, I’m grateful it lasted this long. Title of my sex tape.

The final season will be a short one — only ten episodes. The first episode will air on August 12, after which it will be back-to-back release of new episodes every Thursday.
The Nine-Nine has vowed to give us a fitting, funny and heartfelt ending. We’d recommend keeping a tissue box in reach, just in case.
