Shake down your best gowns and bring out your pearls, Bridgerton Season 2 has wrapped up filming and will soon be ready to unfurl!
The happy news was delivered by the resident know-it-all, Lady Whistledown. By that, of course, I mean Nicola Coughlan was kind enough to tweet about it, attaching a picture of a cake topped by an inkpot, feather, and the infamous gossip newsletter.
At the time of its release, Bridgerton earned the coveted spot of being the most-watched debut show on Netflix. Along with the elaborate, aesthetic get-ups and the inclusive re-imagining, it was Daphne and Simon’s epic love story that reeled everyone in.
But those familiar withthe original novel series will know that each book follows a different Bridgerton child. As such, although Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne will return to the new season, she will take the back burner. However, Regé-Jean Page will not return, much to the dismay of many fans.
While Lady Whistledown may have a comment or two about his lack of appearance, fans should not be too worried. Beyond the first book, Simon does not have major storylines. So, the overall plot won’t be affected.
I, for one, am super excited about how Season 2 will explore more of Anthony Bridgerton’s life. The first season was not entirely kind to him, as he navigated being the eldest Bridgerton child, his “scandalous” romance, and drawing a respecful life as a member of the ton.
As part of Anthony’s story, we will be introduced to Kate and Edwina Sharma, played by Simone Ashley (Sex Education) and Charithra Chandran, respectively.
Kate, who will be Anthony’s paramour for this season, has a lot of fire in her, and it will be thrilling to see how the two play out their dynamics. Watch it here in this Season 2 first look video:
Going back to the wrap announcement, Coughlan does tease us about Season 2 returning in 2022 (or wait, is it 1814?) If all goes smoothly, we may get to attend the Bridgerton ball in early 2022!
