The survivors are back in the room waiting for the next experiment, deprived of water. Rokuro claims the shinobi who had dropped the scroll in the previous episode is Ouga’s minion and forces him to confess using his power.

The shinobi agrees and is killed by Ouga, who appears before them, and asks to choose the scroll for the next experiment. Rokuro picks one of the scrolls and opens it to find ‘Light’ written on it, and they are teleported to a dark room.

Yatsume finds a candle that lights itself up when she holds it. After that, all the survivors take up each candle. Ouga explains that if the flames go off, the person holding it dies as the flame is their life. He also gives them lanterns to put their candles into.

Mitsuki and Sarada have been investigating Boruto’s disappearance since five nights ago. They find that the employee on duty of the Thunder train that day had left the job.

As Sarada and Mitsuki discuss the matter, the employee seems to be hiding in the bush, listening to them. Boruto and others must pass through the watery path, where they find a gate. Boruto entrusts his lantern to Yatsume and tries to lift the gate, which seems very difficult.

Kiseru and Namua help Boruto and successfully lift the gate. After that, they reach a desert-like place where they encounter a dust storm.

To save their candles, Boruto suggests making a shield with all the shinobis surrounding them while the ordinary people hold the candles in the middle. After they are successful, the lady who offered Boruto water dies as her candle seems to have melted.

The heat in the area tends to speed up the melting of candles. They finally reach the destination where Ouga is waiting for them, only to add a bonus stage to the experiment.

He asks two more people to join the other group in the elevator, which will take them to their goal. Two people from Boruto’s group enter the elevator. Boruto’s group proceeds with the other elevator, which is very slow, so he comes up with an idea to make one candle as the wax melts for all of them to hold.

At the same time, Rokuro and Batta take the candles of their group members. The train employee dies from an explosion while running away from Mitsuki and Sarada.
