I had my hopes up because it was Kakashi and Boruto, but the majority of the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations episode 260 was centered around the rest. I enjoyed the Kakashi and Boruto moments more, that’s for sure.
I did like the ending though. People will always compare and hate just because the other side is their “enemy/rival”. They don’t stop to consider whether something is good based off of whether it actually has good or bad qualities. It’s a narrow-minded view on judging.
This is actually a pretty good message, especially to those who always fight about this anime being good, or that anime being trash. Not even just anime; other medias as well.
Episode 261 Speculations
Episode 261 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is named “Kawaki Enters the Ninja Academy.” As seen in the preview, Himawari Uzumaki starts as one of the Konoha Ninja Academy pupils.
She is thrilled to be enrolled in the same class as her closest friends, Yuina and Eho. Kawaki, Naruto’s adopted son, also starts attending the academy, and even he is enrolled in Himawari’s class.
Kawaki finds it a little inconvenient that he must take a class with kids many years younger than him. However, Kawaki must conceal his shinobi status because he is on a secret mission directed by Naruto. He will carry out his mission while attending classes at the academy as a regular student.

Episode 260 Recap
The episode begins with Boruto lugging a bulky bag of ninja equipment and scrolls to Kakashi, who peacefully drinks tea. Boruto gripes about being called without warning to run errands with the former Hokage.
A quarrel between two elderly men starts while they take a little break, and Boruto asks Kakashi if they should intervene. Kakashi tells Boruto he is done with breaking up fights because of Naruto and Sasuke. As the two Shinobi converse, additional individuals join the conflict, worsening the situation.
While attempting to halt them, Boruto is ignored by the mob and shoved aside. The grandchildren of the respective individuals break up the quarrel.
Yubeshi, the granddaughter, informs Boruto that her grandpa typically displays fireworks at the Konoha festival. He is enraged because the New City residents want to put their show a week earlier, which might harm his company.
She also says that she is seeing Sabure, Taruto’s grandson and that they intend to be married.
Kakashi is reading volume 5 of Makeout Tactics, therefore, he is not paying attention. The young couple’s current situation is based on the same story as in the book, and Boruto questions Kakashi as to how the situation was resolved in the book.
Kakashi is unsure because his version is from a newer printing and only the first edition featured an ending. To get aid from the previous Hokage with her grandpa, Yubeshi reveals to Kakashi that she possesses a first edition copy of the book and promises to deliver it to him.
To discuss the problem with Taruto, Boruto and Kakashi visit his bakery.
They discover inside that Taruto and Yubeshi’s grandpa Ohagi were once close friends. They interrogate Taruto about it, and he tells them to go, but Sabure stops them as they are about to depart.
He goes on to say that when the two older men were good friends, they used to collaborate on the fireworks show for the residents of Old Town.
Taruto was chosen to head the New Town community’s fireworks committee this year, which infuriated Ohagi. Kakashi is long gone by the time Boruto attempts to ask him what he is thinking. When Boruto goes back to Ohagi’s dango store to speak with the owner, the man only grudgingly agrees to do so.
Boruto and Kakashi suggest that the two former friends have a calm conversation to aid in their reconciliation. There doesn’t appear to be any way to force the elderly guys to decide independently, though.
Boruto, who had anticipated this, requests that Yubeshi and Sabure bring out a unique shortcake that they each made.
Taruto and Ohagi rekindle their old feud instead of making it easier for them to recall their relationship. Kakashi suggests that the two men battle to determine who is better at it, stating that his only motivation is to acquire his book.
Both will simultaneously exhibit their fireworks on the festival day, and the winner will be in charge of the display in the future.
Later, Boruto questions if forcing the elderly men to participate was the best course of action. Yubeshi and Sabure then ask Kakashi whether he understands what he’s doing, prompting the previous Hokage to confess he has a plan. He claims that the fireworks will handle everything.
As Taruto and his group approach their exhibit on the festival’s eve, a disguised Kakashi approaches them. He makes an odd remark about the sky being clear, perplexing those who came into contact with him.
A few hours later, the fireworks show starts, and residents on both sides of the town are making fun of each other. Despite this, Taruto and Ohagi attempt to halt their displays after realizing something is incorrect.
The fireworks appear to have been exchanged by Kakashi while no one was looking, giving each side their opponent’s. The town’s residents become aware that they are mocking their own fireworks and question whether this rivalry is worthwhile.
After the display, both sides are back where they first discussed the competition, together with Boruto and Kakashi. Taruto and Ohagi are questioned about the winner by Kakashi, but they remain silent.
Both men start bickering again rather than acknowledging they were mistaken, which annoys their grandkids. In an outburst, Yubeshi declares that she will not be able to wed Sabure at this pace, which is what eventually causes the former friends to see their foolishness.
In the epilogue, Boruto is shown assisting Kakashi regarding his back issues. The previous Hokage damaged his back from having to exchange the displays quickly.
The last scene of the episode shows Boruto asking Kakashi whether he read the book to know how it ended. Kakashi tells him that he does not need to read the book to know how such stories end, while Yubeshi and Sabure are shown getting married.
