Episode 254 Recap
Boruto’s proposal makes Mitsuki and Sarada incredibly shocked. As such, Chojuro is on the fleet of Kirigakure.
Despite Ikada’s insistence that Boruto’s life doesn’t matter, Boruto contends that this is the only thing that can end the war. Mitsuki says he cannot afford to lose Boruto, while Sarada dissuades Boruto.
When Ikada asked Sarada and Mitsuki if they would like to watch Boruto die, they refused. During the war, Boruto says that he is afraid to pass, as have all those who have died, and that their deaths have saddened some.
Sarada and Mitsuki are asked not to take revenge for him, and he feels that someone must take on the pain to end the war. The Gokai responds, stating that Boruto deserves a more brutal death due to killing Funamushi. Despite Boruto’s request that Sarada and Mitsuki stay still, Ikada allows him and his friends to attack Boruto.
Despite Boruto’s request, Araumi considers Ikada’s plan fun. Araumi is about to be killed by Boruto, and Kawaki wonders what he is doing before he does it. The two of them approach Boruto on the floor as Ikada mocks them.
Boruto says that it is not about trusting the Funato to stop fighting after he dies but about what he needs to do. He tells Kobuna to deliver the final blow before Ikada stops the other Funato from attacking.
Ikada tells them the currents won’t allow Boruto to return to the surface, showing them a ramp that can be used to throw him off of the ship.
Considering Boruto’s naivete won’t stop the war, Chojuro allows Misuno to prepare an attack on the mobile fortress. Several sworder fighters and Team 5 approach the Funato on their ship. Boruto teaches Kobuna how similar they are in seeking revenge, and Kobuna is eager to avenge his father.
Boruto’s desire to die to assuage their anger and hatred shakes Kobuna’s resolve, and Boruto steps off the ship himself rather than get blood on his hands. Sarada and Mitsuki are incited to avenge Boruto by Ikada.
It’s hard for Mitsuki to resist going into sage mode. Although Funato taunts them about Boruto, Ikada is confused by their inaction.
After knowing Boruto since childhood and considering him a brother, Sarada confirms that she does hate them. Ikada, knowing that she cannot suppress that pain, urges her to seek revenge.
Her sharingan is activated, and she takes out a kunai, but she stops and throws it to the ground. As Mitsuki says, Boruto’s wish will not come true if they attack.
Ikada then asks Kobuna if he did the right thing by vengeance on his father, and Kobuna begins weeping. Seiren inspires Ikada to save Boruto from the ocean. Having risen far enough in a sea dragon, he splits the storm clouds above them. It amazes everyone. Araumi is enraged at him for saving Boruto.
Ikada tells Boruto he won and that his friends did not attempt to avenge him. Boruto is surprised to be alive. He instructs him that it doesn’t matter who wins or loses. They are returned to the ship after Ikada dispels the sea dragon.
Ikada explains that they didn’t seek revenge for saving him, and Gokai questions why they kept him. The war is declared over, and the troops are ordered to withdraw.
In Gokai’s mind, Seiren and Funamushi died for what? To prevent his children from getting drawn into the fighting, one of the Funato soldiers wants the war to stop. Gokai considers them a disgrace, and several Funato soldiers drop their harpoons as Kobuna continues to cry.
The Chakra Cannon is aimed at the Shinonome 1, expressing Araumi’s disappointment in Ikada. Upon entering the room, Kawaki informs him that he has already lost to Boruto and Ikada. Kawaki slashes Araumi’s throat with his bladed arm after Ausumi refuses to give up.
Boruto wants their future to be different from their past, mentioning Kagura’s wish that his village symbolizes peace.
Gokai tries to rile up the Funato soldiers to keep fighting, but Boruto wants their future to be different from their past. Having dismissed Boruto’s determination as naive, Chojuro admits he has much to learn.
Buntan decides to give up vengeance for Kagura and Hebiichigo. Boruto is told by Ikada that he is tired of hating and being hated and that he prefers everyone to keep smiling. Upon hearing Boruto’s words, Ikada tells him he wishes to talk and laugh with him again.
