Episode 231 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations starts with another filler episode. Tsubaki’s past is chasing her. Her senior from samurai school is on a killing spree, the nerve of him to go about his samurai business like that.
While on the bandit mission, Tsubaki comes face to face with him. She needs to stop him but can’t bear to draw her blade against him because she blames herself for his killing tendencies.

The anime has come up with a new opening and ending theme, and fans are loving it. But honestly, I preferred the previous opening.
We got another “this person becoming a villain was my fault completely, even though he’s the definition of evil” episode. This has been going on since Naruto times, and it’s getting old.
Hopefully, the next episode will have something to do with the manga.

Episode 231 Recap
Tsubaki wakes up from a dream she had about her senior, Sazanka, from school in the Land of Iron. Her team is assigned a mission about bandits killing travelers.
They try questioning the survivor of the attack but as soon as he sees the samurai, he freaks out.
Guessing the perpetrator could be a samurai, they go to the crime scene to investigate. They find bamboos cut up by a katana, and Tsubaki finds out who it is just by looking at the cut.
She tells her friends about the senior who lost a match to her and went berserk for the Kurosawa sword. Wasabi then morphs into a traveling merchant and tricks the bandits into attacking.
They bring out their samurai, and who can it be but Sazanka? He tries to kill Tsubaki right away, but she fails to draw her sword against him, so her team retreats with her.
Tsubaki wants to withdraw from the mission, but Wasabi convinces her that she needs to let go of the past. She has never been a coward and must cut him down to size.
They confront the bandits again, and Sazanka says he is glad she came to be slaughtered on her own. She fights him and vows not to win by a fluke. This time she wins against him by determination alone, killing him in the process.
In the end, she proves that fighting alongside people that matter to you is better than fighting alone.
