Fans rejoice as Boruto finally airs a canon episode. After the nostalgia-filled “Timeslip arc,” followed by three filler episodes, the heroes are back again to deal with the infamous robber gang – The Mujina-Bandits.
1. Release Date
It was revealed that the episode, expected on February 2, 2020 is called A Test Of Guts. The next episode might show us the shinobi who stabbed Kokuri. Sarada will get more screen-time too.
2. Episode 142 Speculation
In classic Kishimoto-style, the studio decided to end the episode on a cliffhanger. However, Kokuri, getting stabbed in a well-protected and guarded Shinobi penitentiary, is startling and raises multiple questions regarding the functioning of an already suspicious prison.
Sarada, disguised, as a journalist did not have much to do in this episode. Expect her to have considerable screen time in the next episode. Prep yourself for some shinobi v/s shinobi action.
3. Episode 141 Plot
Naruto assigns team 7 to infiltrate Hozuki Castle, a prison for Shinobi based in Kasugakure village hidden in the grass, to secure Kokuri, a former member of Mujina gang with valuable intel. After being part of the Mujina bandits for a while, Kokuri stole some of their money and defected.
He was caught for another crime and sent to Hōzuki Castle to serve his sentence. He managed to obscure his connection to the mujina bandits. However, he predicted to be killed in prison to preserve their secrets and techniques. Frightened, he despatched word to Konohagakure to provide intel on Mujina-Bandits in exchange for his safety.
While Mujina’s second in command, Tsukiyo, arrived at the prison to kill him, Kokiri deliberately injured himself to frame Tsukiyo for attacking him, sending Tsukino to solitary confinement, while getting himself moved to the protected medical ward.
Boruto manages to sneak into the medical ward with Mitsuki’s help; however, he is knocked out by the overly cautious Kokuri, who thought Boruto is here to kill him. After Boruto tells him he’s from Konohagakure and was sent for him, he is relieved.
As Boruto begins leaving the medical ward, a mysterious figure stabs Kokuri in the shoulder, sneaking into the heavily protected medical. The final shot of the episodes teases the mysterious man without revealing his face.
Somewhat a breather episode with uneven pacing and bland characters, however, manga fans know that this arc might end up revealing some of the most crucial plot points regarding Boruto’s abilities.
