Boruto Episode 279: Release Date, Speculations, Watch Online

Boruto and the team struggled with a major internal conflict in episode 278 of Boruto, titled “Musical Chairs.”

We’re introduced to the next game in a dark, isolated room, with just the remaining eight fighting amongst themselves. In a dilemma similar to musical chairs, the ceiling rapidly descended onto them with only a limited number of shelter holes, guaranteeing some deaths.

Boruto manages to coordinate everyone with the power of his words and find an alternative solution that saves them all, with his signature Rasengan (who would’ve thought?).

Episode 279 Speculation

Kiseru Gankubi will play a significant role next episode since he will be scrutinized by Boruto and Batta, who suspect that he is a traitor. Likely, the fight will genuinely break out during the next game, where he will have an opportunity to try and kill them.

Sarada and Mitsuki have finally gotten a lead that brings them somewhere. While they may try and locate and infiltrate the existing base, it’s unlikely that they will be able to interfere next episode.

Recap of Episode 278

Batta remains in shock and distress after she has taken a life; although she tries to hide her emotions, it’s plainly obvious. There is a lot of internal conflict within the group as distrust builds up due to the events of the last episode.

They discuss the reasons that motivate them to get through this game, and Boruto remembers Sasuke. His coolness and way of completing missions with a smooth and calculated effort is something Boruto wishes he could do too.

Shamo wishes to get out for the sake of his grandmother; Namua tells us his story of his murderous and thieving past, but upon meeting a priest with no worldly possessions but still a soul of joy, he was transformed. Now devoted to asceticism, he shuns himself to all desires.

Fugue just wants to deliver the payment to his client for the sake of his business, and Batta refuses to tell us her reason initially but just says she wants a luxurious island in the end.

They are interrupted by the introduction of the next experiment.

They’re teleported to a dark room. Sarada finds a lead to Boruto’s whereabouts, a list of people on the same train.

Shamo presses a button out of curiosity, and the ceiling begins to fall. Luckily one of the buttons creates depressions in the wall in which they could take cover; however, there needs to be more for them all.

While some of them fight over the spaces, Boruto gives up his for the sake of Yatsume, following his father’s ninja way and paying it back since she saved his life during the first game.

Boruto notices the water drain away, deducing that there should be a space under it.

They attack the floor with all their might, and it manages to crack slightly, but a fight starts between Batta and Yatsume about her true motivation. Batta finally cracks and spills the details about how her childhood when her birthplace, an island, was stolen and trampled over by the rich.

As she goes to attack Yatsume for the hole, Boruto manages to convince her not to dirty her hands even more and instead trust in the team, helping with breaking the floor instead. She uses her specialty in order to find the precise, weak point within the floor where its weakest.

Boruto uses his Rasengan and manages to break open a large hole, saving them all. We also see that Fugou’s suitcase does not actually have any money but just a bottle and a framed picture of his family.

Batta also lets Boruto in on her observation that there might be another traitor among them. Sarada and Mitsuki also come to the same conclusion since there was an Outer with them, too, Kiseru Gankubi.
